Morgantown, KY-October 2- Russell Childress of Morgantown, KY would become a three time winner of the Battle at the Bottom as the 28 year old pilot scored the win in the 6th Annual Battle at the Bottom with the NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series. This was the series finale and Kelly Warren of Columbia, KY claimed the series title by 15 points over Leonard Pierce.

The 50 lap, $2,500 to win Lucas Oil A-Main 6th Annual Battle at the Bottom would see Ronnie Falloway go to the lead at the drop of the green flag, with Jimmy Payne, Josh Lucas, Childress, and Leonard Pierce in pursuit. Falloway would quickly put some distance between himself and the field while Lucas pressured Payne for second, with Pierce battling with Childress for fourth. Pierce would get fourth on lap 6 and would run down Lucas for third and take the spot on lap 8, with Childress rolling by Lucas one lap later for fourth. Lap 10 would see the first caution as Jason Riney looped his entry in turn four. The restart would see Falloway lead the field, with Payne, Pierce, and Childress dancing three-wide for the runner-up on lap 10. This three-way battle would see Pierce go to second, with Childress third, and Payne now fourth, as Kelly Warren had worked his way into the top five at this point when the next caution came out on lap 12 for Todd Rust, who had stalled at the top of turn two. The lap 12 restart would spell disaster for Leonard Pierce, who was the series points leader coming into the race, as the studs would break off on the left rear hub and cause his mount to spin, with several cars stopping or taking evasive action, with Pierce being done for the night. Falloway again led the pack at the restart and was looking very impressive as Childress would go to second on Payne on lap 13, with Warren now pressuring Payne for third and taking the spot on lap 17. Childress would run down Falloway and the pair of Soggy Bottom regulars would race side-by-side for the lead on lap 19 before Childress would take the lead on lap 20 and Warren would go to second as Falloway would slow with engine problems as Chris Riehle would bring out the next caution one lap later as he stalled his mount on the backchute. The restart would see Childress and Warren battle door to door for the race lead, as 16th starting Hank Bradley would work his way to third over Payne, with Jimmy Westerfield and Lucas working for the fifth spot. Lap 26 would trigger another caution flag as Robbie Sanders and Shawn Simpson would spin together in turn three. This restart would have Childress out front, with Bradley taking second from Warren on lap 27. Westerfield would bring the heat to Payne and would slide to fourth on lap 29. The final caution of the race waved on lap 32 as Justin Rattliff would loop his mount in turn two. The double file again shook things up with Childress, Bradley, and Warren the first three, with Westerfield taking fourth from Payne on lap 36. Lap 39 would see Bradley and Warren battle for second right on Childress backbumper. Lap 40 would Bradley's great run end when he slowed in turn one with engine problems and would roll pitside. The final nine circuits would see Warren pressure Childress for the lead, but Warren could not find a way around Childress and Childress would see the checkered flag first in his C and L Collison Center, Quality Supply, Radio Shack, Phillip's Auto Crushing, Angela's Shear Perfection, Joe's Pools, Willhite Speed and Performance, Howard Tractor, Cooper Carpet, Clark Distributing, The Banner, Marcie's Boutique, Supreme Pizza, Kentucky Farm Bureau, All-Star Trophies #12 Dirt Ripper Race Car, Ray Parrish Engines powered entry. Warren would claim the series title with his runner-up finish, with Westerfield third, Payne fourth, and Lucas finishing fifth to complete the top five. Rattliff would recover from his spin to head up the second five in sixth, with Brandon Green, Simpson, Trent Young, and Eric Adkins rounding out the top ten.

The BoB Mod Squad finale of 2004 drew 32 entries with Ronnie Falloway claiming the Racing Optics fast qualifier award with a time of 16.414 seconds. Crown Spray Power heat race wins went to Falloway, Payne, Westerfield, and Lucas. The pair of O'Reilly Auto Parts B-Mains were captured by Todd Rust and Brandon Wilson.
