(9/15/08) -- By now, we know Shane Clanton is on top of the the WORLD... We'll folks he's still ridin' that dirt wave of victory, which started three weeks ago in Pennsylvania. Prior to grabbing the most coveted event of the season, the # 25 'RSD Enterprises, SAE Parts Inc, Stevens Plumbing & Mechanical Inc, PRC' sponsored Rocket / Custom powered, Pontiac GTO was cashing in on the World of Outlaw Late Model series event at Tri-City Speedway, of which the night before he was the # 2 racer to 2007 series' champ Steve Francis. Fast forward a week after raising the GLOBE's, and the ride has not yet ended for the GEORGIA GIANT as the team took the $10,000. prize at I-55 Raceway in Missouri. So far Clanton is up to 4th in the overall National RANKINGS and is now just, 60 points behind 3rd ranked 2007 National RANKINGS champion Scott Bloomquist. The TEAM ZERO bossman is 15 points behind Jimmy Owens and with Billy Moyer still atop the standings, with his 11 WINS, the M.O.B. is heading into the 7th inning stretch of the season. As it stands the final $10,000. to-WIN race or higher for Super Late Models is tentatively scheduled for the weekend after Thanksgiving in Dubin, North Carolina, just 22 races away.
Chub Frank got his 4th, second place finish of the season and is the highest ranked racer in the National RANKINGS to not have a win this season in $10,000. or higher paying races. CHUZILLA's not the only one, as 2007 DREAM winner Steve Casebolt, Billy Drake, John Blankenship, Wendell Wallace, Eric Jacobsen and Wayne Chinn all have failed to produce high paying wins. Of the these racer, only EJ and The CHINNSTER have less than multiple Top 5 finishes this season. Jacobsen has a 3rd at Wheatland, while Chinn has a 4th from Lawrenceburg, both coming in late June. This weekend just 3 races plug the slate of the National RANKINGS guidelines. A three nighter kicks off in Pennsylvania as the annual PITTSBURGHER takes to it's PPMS track. The event is a UFo series sanctioned event and pays $12,000. to-WIN. In Tennessee a two-nighter is slated for the Duck River Speedway with the Southern Regional Racing series fella's paying $10,000. to-WIN, while the Lucas Oil Dirt series is up at the historical Brownstown (IN) Speedway paying $20,000. to-WIN that two-night event. Looking ahead to next weekend a plague of big money events hit the US as events take to Iowa ($40K), Mississippi ($20K), Pennsylvania ($12K), Wisconsin ($12K), Tennessee ($10K) and Georgia ($10K).
