Wing Month Part 1 at Clarksville Speedway

Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN wins the Special show of the night. The main attraction tonight was the United Sprint Car Series that came to race at our track. One awesome show of raw power, Larry Sams their announcer and I were talking and comparing the types of cars and the Sprints that came tonight have an amazing 700 hp, direct drive, straight to the axle power plants. To me that equates to about double the horses of the Late Models and about half the weight. And you know what that means.................. SPEED. We clocked some of them with times down in the low 11’s and that my friends is FAST about 80+ MPH average, now that only means that on the straights they were gonna much faster than that only slowing down a bit in the turns. Good, good show. But to get on with the results, Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN took home the victory. Terry was last years points champion for the dirt series. And I say dirt becuase these boys run both dirt and asphalt tracks during their season! , so alot of work goes into these cars every week and we sure did appreciate them for coming here and putting on a good show. There are plans for them coming back next year maybe more than once going on right now. Be on the look out for more from them. Thank you to the crews and members of their series for coming.

Albright comes from rear to win feature, in his Rayburn Chassis car. To explain, Tony and Gary Frost in the F14 were doing alittle close battle on the start of the feature and they helped contribute to the two caution restarts we had and the officials counld not determine the actual person so they put both of them to the rear of the field on the third restart. Now if your thinking what I’m thinking, how in the world did he come from the rear in a 20 lap race. Well it’s like this, Justin Rapp in the 17R held off the lead for around 15 laps and a few cautions but Gary and Tony meanwhile are working their way up through the field and each caution only got them that much closer. And on the final caution Tony had made it all the way to second and Gary was back in fifth. The restart from the caution, and Tony got under Justin in turn three and four and Justin could not hold on anymore, but did take home a very good run and a second place for the night. But to say the least it w! as basically one amazing race to watch as they all circled the track tonight.

1. 1 Tony Albright

2. 17R Justin Rapp

3. 20 Gary Johnson

4. F14 Gary Frost

5. 57 David Porter

But in other action tonight we ran only features for the Mini’s, and Pro Street as well, no heats just the big one tonight. In Mini action, the 15 of Ronnie Richardson form Indian Mound, TN, took home the victory.

3. 05 Flyod Clinard, Jr

4. 10 Michael Rittenberry

5. 32 Jerrel Jones

In the Pro Street feature we watched as the 64 car of Matt Potter of Clarksville, TN take home the checkered flag after the 12 laps.

1. 64 Matt Potter

2 44 Tyrone Dossett

3. 93 Larry Hamm

4 24 Henry Gibbs

5. 69 Timothy Russell

The Street Stock class got to run their heat races. The first heat was won by 45 being driven tonight by Mike Neighbors, lead every lap in the feature but the last one. Heat two was won by the 99 of Daniel Phillips, and the third heat was won by 87 of Dale Phillips. But neither of them would go on to win the feature race, it was won by David Flowers in his 99 ride from Paris, TN.

3. 7X Gil Smith

4. 36 Sam Morgan
