Sweeney and Proctor battle, with Sweeney finding the right path around the track and taking the upper hand at Clarksville Speedway.

Track was fast and fans should have been happy with the return that they received tonight. Just as every other racing event in the history of racing, the night at the speedway started with Bud Points Qualifying. Coming out of the chute first was the UMP Open Wheels. Clayton Miller (77), who timed second to last, came out and showed that the fastest was yet to come. He set a fast time of 13.917 for the fastest of his two lap qualifying run. Charles Zimmerman (93) was the next closest setting a time of just .001 sec from Miller, with a time of 13.918. Next the fans watched with great anticipation to see who would come out this weekend and be the fastest Late Model. “Well?” You ask, it was Randle Sweeney (33) showing us as he came out fourth in the order setting a time of 12.547. And then again in the Late Models, Gary Frost (F14) was a close second with a time of 12.551. Thank god for the clock. To close for a regular watch to show the difference. In Pro Street qualifying i! t was Matt Potter showing the way with a time of 14.25.

We started the night out in heat race action with the Mini Modified Division. The first of two heats was decided by inches, with Ronnie Richardson (15) over coming the rapid advance of Terry Lee (3). In the second of two heat races we saw Michael Dial (Z2) come from the fourth spot to take the win.

Up next in heat race action, UMP Open Wheels. With Miller on the pole and Zimmerman on the outside we hoped for a good race but Zimmerman never looked back after the crop of the green flag for the win in the Quick Six Dash. In heat race two we saw Mike Sweeney (25s) jump out to the early lead but hit the wall in turn one allowing the eventual winner, Wally Walker (7w) to take the checkered flag.

Well folks if you have ever been to Clarksville Speedway you know what’s next in heat race action. You guessed it, the UMP Late Models. With Sweeney on the pole and Frost outside, Frost never had to worry he went out front to stay for the win, in the Quick Six Dash. In heat race one it was Gary Johnson (20) showing the way over the rest of the field. But then in heat race two we saw the son of the Frost connection, Richard Frost (15) take home a victory.

As soon as we got the track In Street Stock Division we saw Roy Brewington (117) come from the last spot to take the win, in heat one. In heat two, it was Dale Phillips (87) taking home the victory again from the sixth spot in heat race two. Showing the way in heat race three was the H55 of Ronnie Hedgepath.

The last of our heat races were the Pro Street Division. Fast timer Matt Potter (64) took the win in the Fast Five Dash tonight. Henry Gibbs (24) took home the victory in heat race one tonight.

After a little intermission and some hot laps by the Late Models and Ride Car we started off the night of feature races with the Mini Modified Division. After a few cautions Ronnie Richardson (15) never had to look back on each restart, until he was being showed the checkered flag, asking himself where everyone else was. Dale McCord in the 31 came home second, with the 10 of Michael Rittenberry coming home in third. Michael Dial (Z2) and Daryl Johnson (30) rounded out the top five.

Zimmerman and Miller battle for the top spot for the first few laps until the first of two cautions, in UMP Open Wheel action. But on each restart it was Zimmerman showing the way over the fast time of the night. Zimmerman took home the checkered, with Michael Lee (55) finishing second and Miller finishing in third. David Flowers (99) brought home the fourth spot and Wally Walker (7w) took the rest of the top five.

In the UMP Late Model feature we saw defending Track Champion pull off early after breaking in the heat. But it was Randle Sweeney in the Burr Motorsports 33 never look over his shoulder, after entering lapped traffic, take the feature win. Before entering lapped traffic it was Proctor and Sweeney battling side by side switching ever so slightly each and every lap. Proctor ended up the night in the second spot. Gary Frost (F14), now points leader again after just losing it last week to Albright, finished. Mike Chandler (51) came home fourth and Gary Johnson (20) came fifth, rounding out he top five.

We watched Brian Caudle (RC1) take home the victory in the Pro Street Division, Matt Potter (64) coming home in the second spot. Third went to Jeff Murphy (41J) who keep in mind fields two cars every week. The fourth spot went to Mickey Jerles (45) showing the rest of the top five was the 54 of Larry Barbur.

Twisted metal in the Street Stock Division tonight, with the six-car pile we had in turn two. But that did not affect Dale Phillips (87) from taking the victory. Jennifer Larsen in her J25 showed up to race tonight taking home the second spot. Doris McCord (45) who went for a shallow swim in the infield showed up in third, and the 29 of Timmy Wilson came home fourth. Rounding out the top five was the H55 of Ronnie Hedgepath.

Now with racing action over for the evening it was the fans time in the Ride Car. Watching the faces after coming out of the car with Eddie Pace as the pilot is the best of the night. But as every weekend we would like to say “Thank You” for coming out and enjoying another good weekend of racing at the speedway, and also to our sponsors for the support that they offer to make this happen every weekend, for you enjoyment.

Hope to see you all next weekend. Be safe this week and come on out to the complex for the numerous racing events held here during the course of the weekend.
