"Clash at the Mag" this Weekend for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series

CORONA, CA (July 8, 2010) - After a busy Fourth of July Weekend, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series heads into the heart of the Deep South, to Columbus, MS this Friday and Saturday, July 9th and 10th. The drivers of the LOLMDS will be on hand for the "Clash at the Mag" Presented by the Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau. The second annual event will, again be held at the beautiful Magnolia Motor Speedway, and will be promoted by Johnny Stokes. Magnolia Motor Speedway has been busily preparing for the event over the past few weeks. A huge car-count and a capacity crowd are expected to fill the state-of-the-art facility for the second straight year. The event will be taped by the cameras SPEED Channel and shown on Saturday, July 31st at 6:00 PM Eastern/5 PM Central.

The weekend kicks off on Thursday Night with practice sessions for all divisions from 7PM to 10PM. Grandstand admission is free for Thursday Night, while Pit Passes are $15. Events will get underway on Friday Night with Red Buck Cigars Time Trials followed by Wiles Driveshafts, AFCO Racing Products, Allstar Performance and SuperFlow Heat Races. Grandstand admission on Friday for adults is $20, while ages 11-17, active military, and senior citizens get in for just $15. Kids 6-10 years of age are $5 and 5 years of age and under are free with a paying adult. Friday pit admission for adults is $30 with kids 6 to 10 years of age $20. Children 5 years of age under are free. Saturday pit admission for adults is $35 with kids 6 to 10 years of age $25. Children 5 years of age under are free.

Saturday Night will see the running of the Hawk Performance Brake Pads and Performance Rod and Custom B-Mains followed by the $20,000 to win/$1,000 to start "Clash at the Mag" Presented by the Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau. Billy Moyer of Batesville, AR is the defending race winner. On Saturday, adult grandstand admission is $25 with ages 11-17, active military, and senior citizens $20. Kids 6 to 10 years of age are $5 and 5 years of age and under are free with a paying adult. A two-day grandstand pass may be purchased for $40, which is a $5 savings. A two-day pit pass may be purchased for $60 ($5 savings) or a three-day pit pass may be purchased for $70 ($5 savings).

Heading into the "Clash at the Mag" this weekend will be the top drivers on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. They will make their only appearance in Mississippi at Magnolia Motor Speedway this year for the "Clash at the Mag". Some of the top regional drivers are expected, including Bub McCool, David Breazeale, Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, Chad Thrash, Rick Rickman, Brian Rickman, Klint Byars, and many more. With the regional drivers eagerly preparing for the event, a strong influx of the nation's top competitors is preparing to tame the "Black Ice". Defending series champion Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN; still holds down first place in the championship points' standings, which is worth $75,000 again this year. Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN is currently second in points, followed by 4-time series champion, Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL. Pearson is coming off of a sweep in the State of Ohio this past weekend. He took wins at Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, OH and Portsmouth (OH) Raceway Park over the holiday weekend in LOLMDS competition.

Bloomquist, Owens, and Pearson have combined for 15 wins on the series tour in 2010, with each driver winning five times this season. This year's DART Show-Me 100 winner, Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC; who won last Thursday in the series' first ever visit to Beckley (WV) Motorsports Park; has three series wins and is sitting fourth in points followed by 2-time series runner-up, Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN; who has one series win to his credit this year.

Dale McDowell, who drives for 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series Champion, Clint Bowyer is sixth in points heading to Columbus, followed by Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN; Chris Wall of Holden, LA; Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI; and Eric Wells of Hazard, KY.

Wall, who finished second to Moyer in last year's "Clash at the Mag" at Magnolia Motor Speedway currently leads the Quarter Master "Rookie of the Year" chase, ahead of Wells and Marshfield, Wisconsin's Tim Isenberg. The Quarter Master Rookie of the Year top prize is worth $10,000, and second is worth $4,500 courtesy of Sweet Manufacturing.

The event also marks the next E3 Spark Plugs Challenge for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series drivers. The challenge is for drivers with perfect attendance on the series tour and is based on total accumulated points from the televised events. Right now, Don O'Neal leads the challenge followed by Scott Bloomquist, Earl Pearson Jr., Dan Schlieper, and Jimmy Owens. First place is a $2500 cash award and second place pays $1500.

The payoff for Saturday Night's main event finale will be; $20,000, $10,000, $6000, $4000, $3000, $2000, $1800, $1700, $1600, $1550, $1500, $1450, $1350, $1300, $1250, $1200, $1150, $1100, $1050, positions 20-24 is $1000.

The tire rule for the event at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS will be; American Racer SD44 or any compound harder, SD44 must punch a minimum of 40, Hoosier 1300 or any compound harder, 1300 must punch a minimum of 40.
