COMP Cams® Topless has officially announced its title sponsorship of the 23rd Annual Short Track Nationals at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) for October 27th-30th, 2010.

COMP Cams® has always been heavily involved in the sponsorship of events throughout the country, but over the past few years, the company has especially begun to extend its support of dirt track events. COMP Cams® is proud to announce that earlier this week it signed a contract to become the title sponsor for the 23rd Annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas.

The 23rd Annual COMP Cams® Short Track Nationals features four nights of Sprint Car action at the high-banked, red clay, ¼ mile on October 27th-30th, 2010. The opening night on Wednesday serves as an open practice night with the Thursday and Friday night portions of the show seeing the field divided in half for preliminaries. On Saturday night, the field is combined for the finale, which features the top twenty cars waging war for big money. The total purse for the event exceeds, $100,000 including $15,000 to win and $2,300 to start for the finale, which makes it the richest 360 cubic inch, Sprint Car event in the nation. The event is also sanctioned by the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series.

The combination of the timing of this event and the purse that is posted results in arguably the most eclectic and talented field of Sprint Cars assembled in the country each year. The event has grown to attract over 100 Sprint Cars, and its champion’s list is a who’s who of Sprint Car racing with names that include two-time defending winner, Tony Bruce Jr., Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell, Paul McMahan, Jason Johnson, Tim Crawley, and several others. In the first twenty-two editions of the event, fifteen different drivers have claimed wins with Hooks, Texas driver, Gary Wright, owning the most titles with four.

COMP Cams® became involved with the event in 2008, when it began sponsoring an incentive for drivers, who were starting on the front row for the finale, with the option to start deep in the field for bonus money. COMP Cams® was so impressed with the event and its potential that it made the decision to considerably increase its involvement for 2010.

In regards to becoming the title sponsor of the event, Chris Douglas, who is the Director of Marketing for COMP Cams®, comments, “We at COMP Cams® are extremely honored to become the title sponsor for the COMP Cams® Short Track Nationals. Not only is this race an event, but it is also a happening, and it offers so much to racers and fans. We look forward to a long relationship, and hope to help the event grow even more as we move forward.”
