Cup race at Gateway?

Just read an article by Dave Moody in which he mentions that Curtis Francois, owner of Gateway, is interested in talking to NASCAR about possibly having a midweek Cup race there in 2020. There seems to be a likely chance that the schedule is getting a major overhaul then. Wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this?

Please. I wish they would cut all but 1 or 2 of the 1.5 mile tracks

I would say it’s not very likley Nascar makes some big demands on tracks with cup dates.my ? Would be is this guy willing to spend the money to do what they want? Who knows. Jmop

I would think the cost would far outweigh the return. Look at the grandstands at most of the Cup races. They aren't as full as they once were. A mid week race would really be a hard sell for most fans. You have to work to pay bills or buy tickets.

Never say never when Curtis Francois is motivated. He brought the track back from the dead. A mid-week one day event may be just what the doctor ordered.
