(CHICKAMAUGA, GEORGIA) Dale McDowell Racing picked up their third victory
of the 2004 season last Saturday night when the #17m crossed the checkers
first in the 12th annual James King Memorial at Columbus Speedway. The win
was worth a cool $12,000 to the team, but it was not a walk in the park for
Dale. He started fourth in the 64-lap feature event and took the lead on
lap 29 after a spirited side-by-side battle with Billy Moyer. After the J&J
Steel / Petroff Towing / New Vision Graphics #17m Larry Shaw / Racetek Grand
Prix got to the point, Dale held off several serious challenges by Don
O'Neal before taking the checkers at the racy oval in Columbus, MS.

"That was a great win for us," stated McDowell on Monday. "It was a great
race and the track was very racy. We changed lines several times throughout
the event and I definitely had by hands full with O'Neal there at the end.
We are kind of on a roll now and running pretty good, but things can change
in an instant in racing. We just have to keep running strong and hopefully
good things keep happening."

Dale is undecided about where the team will be running this coming weekend.
"We may go to Cleveland (TN) Speedway for the Southern Allstar Series show.
I just don't know yet. We will be making up our mind later in the week. We
have to leave the following week on Wednesday for Texas, so that makes for a
short week."
