(CHICKAMAUGA, GEORGIA) The Dale McDowell Racing team posted two impressive
finishes last weekend in a pair of Dirt Late Model events. Over the
weekend, Dale was ultra-fast at the Dirt Track at the Lowe's Motor Speedway
in Concord, North Carolina, as he posted a fourth place run in the $50,000
to win ‘Colossal 100.’ He started out the weekend on Friday, April 21 by
posting a twenty-seventh place qualifying effort of the 119 entrants and a
second place finish in his heat. The Chickamauga, Georgia native then
rolled off tenth in the 100-lap A-Main on Saturday and improved his starting
spot by six positions en route to the fourth place finish. Dale finished
behind winner Scott Bloomquist, Donnie Moran, and Steve Francis.

Earlier in the week, Dale finished sixth in the World of Outlaws Late Model
Series event at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania on Tuesday,
April 18. Dale was sixteenth fastest in qualifying and advanced to the
feature event by virtue of his second place performance in the heat race.
He then drove his J&J Steel / Hennessey Rental Tools / New Vision Graphics
#17m Larry Shaw – Rocket / Racetek GTO to a sixth place finish in the
$10,000 to win A-Main after passing six cars in the 50-lapper. Dale is now
sixth in the latest version of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series point
standings.

“It was a good week for us finish-wise, but we probably still went in the
hole for the week because of all of the damage inflicted by the track
conditions at Charlotte,” stated McDowell today. “It is pretty bad when you
run fourth in a $50,000 to win show and don’t make enough money to pay for
all of the parts you are going to have to replace as a result of racing on a
rough track all weekend. We were actually lucky to even finish the race, as
we broke a left front control arm battling Steve Francis for the second
spot. It was a handful after that and we wouldn’t have made it many more
laps.”

The DMR team is planning on taking the weekend off from Dirt Late Model
competition, as they will regroup from the rigors of the Lowe’s Motor
Speedway. With a full slate of World of Outlaws Late Model Series events on
tap for the month of May, Dale and the team want to be 100 percent ready
when those races roll around. For the latest schedule information on the
