Time to get serious about the weather now. Looks like we're going to fit between systems perfectly.

Baytown forecast at weather.com:

Wed Dec 2 Cloudy 55° 38° 20%

Thu Dec 3 Partly Cloudy 58° 39° 20%

Fri Dec 4 Sunny 60° 42° 0%

Sat Dec 5 Partly Cloudy 62° 50° 20%

Sun Dec 6 Few Showers 67° 51° 30%

Mon Dec 7 Showers 66° 48° 60%

Raining now (Monday), rain again tomorrow, cloudy and cool on Wednesday which makes me wonder if we'll get practice in or not but I can live without practice (although, I'd like to see the racers get it in) as long we get those race day forecasts to come true! We are not scheduled on Sunday or Monday obviously. Just put those to show the trend.

The great thing about these USMTS shows, is even with 150 cars running in 2 classes (it's just 2 classes!), they get them in under 4 hours! No sitting around and waiting for anything. No intermissions even. Just race, race, race and don't miss your heat race or B main line-up or....see you next time! They don't wait...

Saturday's show will be the best temperature-wise....like it ought to be in December, right?!

OK. As you know, the tickets are free for Friday and Saturday's grandstand entry (get them at O'Reilly Auto Parts!) but it is not an entirely free event. It cost $10 to park per night per car load on Friday and Saturday. Since it cost to get in the grandstand on Thursday (the coldest night), parking is free for Thursday. So, 2 people in a car can still a great race for just $10 where it would normally cost you $30. 4 or 5 people in a car and you have a real bargain!

Call HRP about heaters in the grandstand ahead of time. I don't think they are allowed. Won't need them Friday and Saturday. The crowds on those nights and this fast moving, quick paced racing show will keep things much warmer for everyone anyway. No long delays, no intermissions or the like at these USMTS shows!

If you ain't leaving, you're late!

On my last trip to Cowtown, World of Outlaw Sprint Car driver Sam Hafertepe, Jr. of Sunnyvale indicated he and teammate Triston Dycus of Fort Worth would be racing Modifieds at HRP this weekend too. Sam has been racing Modifieds when his schedule permits at places like Cowtown, Devil's Bowl and Lone Star.

The USCS (United Speed Contest Sanction -- races in Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama) Modified champion Hunter Rasdon of Jonesboro, Ark. is headed south at this time to race in the Texas Winter Nationals. Drives the #R5 GRT I believe....
