Bear Lake, PA --- Last Friday evening at Hagerstown Speedway in Maryland Chub competed in the 40-lap Winchester-Hagerstown Shootout for the ITSI Late Models where Chub started the main event in the 11th position in his in his Corry Rubber/Nystrom's Auto Sales/Draime Racing Engines/Rocket Chassis/ Pierotti Motorsports/Farr MotorSports Chevrolet Monte Carlo #1*.

Starting 11th, Chub, the defending RDRS National Champion moved into the second spot on the 30th lap then lost the runner-up spot back to Todd Andrews for a lap before regaining it on the 38th lap. Once Chub cleared Andrews, leader Mike Balzano was crossing the finish line 1.5 seconds in front of Chub. Andrews settled for third with Gary Stuhler coming from 9th for fourth to edge out a hard charging Tom Myers.

On Saturday evening at Hagerstown for the running of the "22nd Annual Conococheague 100" Chubzilla started in the third starting slot. As the race progressed, Bart Hartman led with Davey Johnson in tow. Chub pressured Johnson for second finally grabbing the spot on lap 22 exiting turn four. Chub stayed glued to Hartman's back bumper as the halfway flags were displayed and then the yellow and red flags were thrown for the mandatory halfway fuel stop.

Hartman again pulled away from his pursuers on the restart as Johnson got past Chub for second and Shaver took fourth from Pearson Jr. on lap 51. Johnson had opened up a nearly 15-car advantage by lap 85 as Chub pressured Hartman for second. Lap 87 saw Hartman jump the cushion in turn four allowing Chub to close on Hartman and take the spot. Chub was able to whittle into Johnson's lead over the final 10 laps but Johnson was just too far in front for Chub to challenge Johnson. Chub settled for second for the second night in a row.

On Sunday, Chub made the tow up to Eriez Speedway for the final ULMS Tri-State Championship event of the season. Scott Gurdak and Doug Eck were on the front row followed by Kirk Bradley and Dave Hess Jr. The green flew but Brian Ruhlman had stopped in turn four and as the yellow flew several cars tangled in turn two including Dick Barton, Andy Boozel, Merle Terry, George LaBarbera and Steve Halpainy. The race was realigned with all those involved in the yellow sent to the rear of the field. Halpainy left on the hook. Hess move up two spots to fall in behind Gurdak on the restart.

One lap later Eck got sideways coming out of four and the entire field managed to get by without any incident, only Bruce Hordusky was left sitting having spun to avoid a collision. Two laps were now complete with Gurdak out front followed by Hess, Rich Gardner, Doug Eck, Scott Johnson, Andy Kania, Rod Maloy and Chris Hackett; Chub was in the tenth spot. Within two more laps, Chub had passed two more cars. By lap 12 Chub was up fourth and continued passing cars. Chub caught race leader Scott Gurdak in traffic on lap twenty-seven and trailed Gurdak for the next three laps looking for an opening that never occurred. Gurdak finished three quarters of a car length ahead of Chub for the win, making it three races in a row on the weekend that Chubzilla finished in the bridesmaid spot.

This coming weekend, August 21-23 Chub will be at Florence Speedway for the running of the $50,000 to win 21st Annual North-South Shoot-Out. Chub is the defending race winner of this event. The following weekend Chubzilla will be running the Renegade tour again at I-79 Speedway and Portsmouth Raceway Park. Tentative plans are to compete at Tyler County Speedway on Labor Day for the Hillbilly 100 and then the final OHIO LATE MODEL SPEEDWEEK event at Sharon Speedway on September 2 before heading off to Eldora Speedway for the famed WORLD 100 where Chub will be driving his now-famous "Silver Car' anniversary Rocket Chassis.

Ron Slavic is very busy designing new merchandise for the World 100 for Chub and the Chubzilla apparel trailer will be at the World 100. Chub also gained another 170 points on Mike Balzano on Saturday in Renegade competition. In addition, if anyone knows anyone that is looking for a racecar hauler truck & trailer Chub has one on the market for sale.
