Madison, IL - Gateway International Raceway has once again teamed up with Doc's Harley
Davidson for the 2nd Annual Bikefest Midwest to be held on Saturday, August 20. The
event will feature drag racing with cash payouts, and the return of the Miss Bikefest Contest.
If you are a fan of motorcycles and like to race this is one of the premier events of 2005.
Bracket and Quick 16 classes will run with a top payout of $1,200 for each winner. Runner-
ups in the classes will receive $600, while semifinalists ($200) and quarterfinalists ($50) also
get payouts. Racers pay $20 to enter while spectators can ride in for FREE. There will be
grudge racing will run from Noon - 5 PM, with qualifying runs to follow. All drag racers
that want to participate must meet NHRA safety standards (leather jacket, leather gloves,
leather shoes that cover the ankle, and a full-face helmet rated at Snell 90 or newer).
There will be various events throughout the day and evening including a Poker Run
(Registration begins at 11 AM), live music from the Bob Band, a Show and Shine contest
($5 entry fee) and the return of the Miss Bikefest Midwest contest. The Miss Bikefest
Midwest competition will begin at 7:30 PM, with the Show and Shine winner to be
announced immediately afterwards.
