Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (April 23, 2014) – With the opening two nights of action in the books at Dodge City Raceway Park, attention shifts to the variety of events slated for the approaching month of May.

The state-of-the-art facility in southwest Kansas offers up a little something for everybody in May with Late Models and Sprint Cars taking to the 3/8-mile clay oval along with the track’s always exciting championship chase divisions.

Next up at the track on Saturday night, May 3, is the highly-anticipated return of Outlaw Late Model racing with the MARS DIRTcar Series squaring off with the forces of the NCRA Late Model series.

The May 3 card which will include three-time MARS champion Terry Phillips, 2012 champion Jesse Stovall and reigning champion Tony Jackson among others will mark the first Late Model event at Dodge City Raceway Park since the 2011 season.

The May 3 event will also include championship points action for the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds and Stock Cars.

Action continues one week later on Saturday, May 10, with the season-opening event for the United Rebel Sprint Series. With Jake Bubak reigning as defending URSS National champion and Luke Cranston the defending URSS Kansas champion, the URSS Sprint Cars have offered up nine different winners in the last nine events at DCRP dating back to 2009.

Joining in on the May 10 card along with the URSS Sprint Cars will be the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and Hornets.

Finally, rounding out the month of May at DCRP is the May 24 championship chase event featuring a full card of IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Thunder Cars and Hornets.

The month of May is part of a blockbuster season of racing action at Dodge City Raceway Park that includes 15 nights of competition. Highlighting the schedule is the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars “Boothill Showdown” on July 4-5 along with a variety of special events for Sprint Cars, Late Models, Modifieds, Sport Modifieds and Stock Cars along the way.
