GREENFIELD, IN (July 4, 2007) – Cameron Dodson, 18, had high hopes for a pair of USAC sanctioned events at Richmond International Raceway where he would attempt double duty but the young Indiana driver repeatedly fell victim to misfortune.

Dodson and USAC Sprint powerhouse Keith Kunz Motorsports reunited for their second showing with the #67x PMI/LaJoie of Seating/Hoosier Tire/Doty Graphics/Beast Chassis. The Hoosier State duo qualified a solid eighth place and were poised for a top-5 finish as the field closed in on the final ten laps of competition for the 30 lap event that was shortened from the original 60 laps due to weather. Dodson wheeled the Kunz Motorsports’ mount into a wheel-to-wheel battle for fourth when he fell victim to contact and spun. The #67x team was forced to the tail and managed to rally back with a fierce charge in the few remaining laps to still finish a respectable 12th place.

As attention turned to the 100-lap USAC Silver Crown™ Series competition, Dodson refocused and piloted the #199 C&R Chassis for Carl Edwards/R.E. Technologies Racing into the sixth place starting berth. The R.E. Technologies/Ford Racing team, which is co-owned by NASCAR ace Carl Edwards, worked diligently to make various adjustments prior to final practice and their efforts were rewarded as Dodson topped the speed charts. The teen speed phenom’s luck appeared to be changing until a flat left rear fire on lap 23 would force the team to pit under green and lose two laps to the leaders. The obstacle did not derail Dodson and his crew. The team was knocked out of contention for the win but thrilled the crowds as the #199 was clearly the fastest car on the track and mixed things up by racing with the leaders to regain positions. The Carl Edwards/R.E. Technologies’ team officially finished an impressive 9th place.

“What a weekend,” commented a disappointed Dodson. “I can’t complain because everyone worked hard and both the Keith Kunz/Pete Williby Motorsports and Carl Edwards/R.E. Technologies teams provided great race cars. Those sprint engines were the strongest I’ve ever felt and I think we would have easily had a top three if it wasn’t for that tangle because the car was great. And as always, Chris Santucci and the R.E. Technologies teams brings their A-game and delivers a great car and has an excellent arsenal of setups. We were going for the win in that one but a flat tire jilted our plans. We just couldn’t catch a break out there but that’s how it goes in racing. In both races we were fast though!”

“We were very fast,” the Greenfield, IN, racer emphatically added. “We were winding down the final laps and would have had a great top-5 run for Keith Kunz Motorsports team until we got bumped by another car as we were passing for 4th place but still salvaged a decent finish. But the Silver Crown™ race is what really burns because that car that the R.E. Technologies team provided handled like it was on rails. But that flat tire pinned us two laps down so we couldn’t race for the win but we at least showed our potential and still earned a top-10. It’s been a long weekend but I’m ready to jump back in and get some redemption for the guys that worked so hard – they all deserve to be standing in Victory Lane.”

Dodson will have enough chance to try and deliver when he rejoins the Keith Kunz Motorsports team for the USAC Sprint Series at Toledo Speedway on July 6th and Mansfield Raceway Park on July 7th. Cameron will once again pilot the Carl Edwards/R.E. Technologies Ford-backed USAC Silver Crown™ #199 at Chicagoland Speedway on July 13, 2007.
