Inside Line Promotions - PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Oct. 30, 2018) - Dominic Scelzi enjoyed his Central Pennsylvania debut last Sunday during the Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal Speedway.

Scelzi, who was piloting a Bernie Stuebgen owned sprint car for the first time during the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event, qualified fifth quickest in his group. That put him in a great position in the 51-car field.

"We were good in hot laps and we timed in strong," he said. "We had a good heat race, going third to second. I feel like I was better than Shane (Stewart), who won, too. That was great. The track was super fast because of the recent rain so it was great that we were fast right out of the trailer."

Scelzi's run from third to second place in a heat race locked him into the eighth starting position for the 50-lap A Main.

"I made a couple of mistakes getting comfortable," he said. "I had a top-10 car. I was continually getting more comfortable. I was running in 10 th and we had a fuel pick up issue. It acted like it ran out of fuel when we had six gallons left. It was sputtering."

Scelzi pulled into the pits early and he was credited with a 19 th-place result.

"I'm happy we were able to go to one of the toughest races of the world in the toughest region in the country and compete for a top 10," he said. "To race how we did, I'm beyond happy."

Scelzi will drive for Stuebgen this Thursday through Saturday at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., during the World of Outlaws World Finals with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. It will mark his first time back at the track since making his debut there in 2015.

"I think the biggest focus is qualifying," Scelzi said. "We'll throw out our previous experience there because it rained all week and the track was rough in qualifying. It was a day race basically. I'm taking it as it is this weekend and I'm excited to see what we can do.

"I want to thank Bernie and Betsy again for the great opportunity to race at Port Royal Speedway and The Dirt Track at Charlotte."
