Donnie Dotson takes AFCO Racing Crate Spec Shocks to Victory Lane at Tyler County Speedway
Donnie Dotson of West Union, WV took his 2015 Rocket chassis to Victory Lane at Tyler County Speedway this past Saturday night in the FASTRAK Pro Late Model division. Dotson is utilizing the AFCO Crate Spec Shock Series and has seen great results this season. “I’m really impressed with the shocks AFCO has put together,” said Dotson, “Being a low budget racer myself, I can’t see ever switching back to what I was running before.”
Dotson was 6th overall in qualifying out of 15 drivers at America’s Baddest Bullring on Saturday night. He started outside pole of the heat race and won his heat race. That placed him on the outside pole for the feature. Trey Watson led this first few laps of the feature, when Dotson got around him and led the rest of the way to the checkered flag.
“The car is handling great, it’s taking my 2015 Rocket and has me out running brand new XR1s,” continued Dotson, “I love that the only adjustability is gas pressure, I wish these shocks would have come out years ago.”
The previous week, Dotson qualified 6th, won his heat, and finished the feature second. Dotson had led 12 laps of that feature before Kyle Thomas got around him on a late race restart. Dotson currently leads the FASTRAK Division 4 points that include Tyler County Speedway and Elkins Raceway.
“I just couldn’t get back around him,” said Dotson, “but we definitely had the speed. I’ve been in racing for 30 years now and it’s hard to compete with the money sometimes, but these shocks are bringing everyone closer together.”
