Inside Line Promotions - EAGLE, Neb. (Aug. 28, 2014) - Jack Dover rallied to post his 21[sup]st[/sup] top five of the season last Saturday during the IMCA 305ci event at Eagle Raceway.
Dover, who put his engine in the sprint car of Rick Bowers, was forced to open the night starting ninth in his heat race since he didn't race for points at the high-banked track. Dover advanced to a fifth-place result, which relegated him to the B Main.
"The track was still pretty good," he said. "We didn't get hot laps. We just went out and winged it and hoped everything was good. We weren't too bad. The track was just too good."
Dover then used the cushion to power around the track during the B Main, which he won to transfer into the back of the main event. He started the 25-lap feature on the inside of the ninth row.
"We picked cars off one by one slowly and worked our way up to fifth," he said. "I'd say we were a fifth-place car. Come to find out we had some wrong torsion bars on the car so we didn't run where we wanted to."
It was good enough to earn him the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.
Dover will return to Eagle Raceway this Friday through Sunday for the RaceSaver IMCA Super Sprint Nationals. He is also planning to compete on Sunday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., with the Nebraska 360 Sprints.
"I'm hoping I do well on my prelim and get locked into the Sprint Nationals feature on Sunday," he said. "If everything works out I can go to I-80 Speedway to run the heat race on Sunday then drive my personal car to run the feature at Eagle and get back to I-80 in time for the main event there."
