Dukes Dominates Midway USRA Mod Victory/Flood Tuning-Up In Factory Win

Lebanon,Mo.-Veteran Rusty Dukes is serving notice for the upcoming Modified special events in the area as he grabbed the opening lead and served a dominating performance Friday night at the LebanonMidwaySpeedway in capturing the USRA Modified feature win.

Dukes who started on the outside of the front row grabbed the lead from pole setter Sam Petty and withstood an early challange from Jim Body and Kris Jackson in setting a fast pace.With Dukes leading,Body and Jackson wagged a strong battle for the second place spot as defending champion Jamie Ragland was coming strong from the 10th starting spot along with Justin Neuman.Neuman's night ended on lap 5 with problems.On the restart,Jackson applied pressure to Dukes as Body and Ragland were fighting for position.During the green run again Dukes pulled away leaving the rest to battle for spots.Ragland's charge to the front ended on lap 14 as the right rear tire exploded.On the final restart,Jackson tried again,but Dukes pulled away grabbing his second feature win of the season with Jackson,Body,point leader Donnie Fellers and a late moving Ragland completing the top 5.
FactoryStock action saw Tyson Troutman jump out to the early lead with defending champion Tim Petty following along with James Flood and point leader Bob Gustin.Troutman was setting a quick pace with Flood and Gustin applying pressure.Flood tried several times to made the pass for the top spot but Troutman would hold off the challanges.A lap 5 caution for Brad Gayer set up the quick pass as Flood made the low groove stick and took over the top spot as Gustin was following through.Lap 9 proved to be a changing point in the race as Gustin spun in turn 1.On the restart,Troutman applied pressure to the leader Flood with Tim Petty battling last weeks winner Sundance Keepper as Donnie Miller was making a charge also.The final yellow waved on lap 12 setting up a 3 lap shootout.On the restart,Troutman tried again but Flood held in low line and took his second feature win of the season in preparing for the $500 to win show on Aug 28th.

The B-Modified feature had JC Morton grab the opening lead from his outside front row spot with defending champion Jason Otto following along with Doug Smith and point leader Mickey Burrell.The first caution waved on lap 3 as Ted and Tim Ballinger got together in turn 1.On the restart,Otto made a move down low but did a complete 360 spin dropping him from contention.Colt Cheevers applied pressure to Morton.This battle lasted until lap 7 when Cheevers took over the lead,but Morton came right back at him.Tyler Brown had charged from the 10th starting spot to move into third place as Jack Lancaster and Mickey Burrrell were swapping spots back and forth.

With several battles on the track,Cheevers would grab his third feature win of the season at midway with Morton,Brown,Lancaster and Burrell the top 5.
The Bomber feature saw Tim Bostwick jump to the early from his pole spot with Jack Hamer following closely.On lap 3,Matt Pilant spun bringing out the yellow as Shawn Strong had powered from 6th to the runner-up spot.On the restart,Strong made a wide sweeping move to grab the lead as Hamer and Brandon Waters were following.Out in front Strong would pull away from the field to take his 5th win of the season as Hamer,Waters,a fast moving Rodney Yost and Josh Lewis completing the top 5.

The Purestocks provided some last lap drama and a great finish as Justin Grindstaff took the opening lead with point leader Les Hayes and Jake Anthony following.On lap 3,with Grindstaff leading,Billy Waters and last weeks Enduro winner Brian Schutt moved into the top 5.Grindstaff had opened-up a good lead as Schutt moved into hte second place spot on lap 8.The races only caution waved on lap 9 as Jason Brumley spun bunching the field-up.On the restart,Schutt went to the outside groove as the leaders ran side-by-side with Schutt moving into the top spot and Grindstaff falling to second place.Back in the pack,Waters,Hayes and a fast moving Adam Lowrance who had started 11th moving into the pack.

With the checkered waving,Schutt grabbed the victory with Grindstaff claiming second followed by Waters,Hayes and Lowrance.

Racing resumes Friday night Aug.14th with racing in the LateModelSportsman,USRA modifieds,B-mods,Bombers and Purestocks.The track will also hold the final pitstop competition Friday night with the winning team recieving $100 from EZ Port-A Potties of Lebanon.Gates open at 5 with Hotlaps at 7 and Racing at 8PM.More information can be gathered by visiting the website at WWW.LebanonMidwaySpeedway.com or contacting Jack Jones at 417-594-0594.
