Earl Pearson Jr. Finishes Second in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt
Series at Florence Speedway in Union Kentucky

Jacksonville, FL (June 6, 2005)- The Lucas Oil Dunn-Benson Ford
Motorsports team and driver Earl Pearson Jr. competed in the Lucas Oil Late
Model Dirt Series over the weekend in the Ralph Latham Memorial 50-lap
feature event paying $10,000 to the winner at Florence Speedway in Union
Kentucky. Earl would set the third quickest time in qualifying out of
64 cars entered and would win the third heat race from the fourth
starting position after the inversion of the top four fastest cars in each
heat race.

Once the heat race winners were set, the six drivers would redraw for
their starting position for the 50-lap feature. Earl would draw the
number two which put him on the outside front row for the feature event.
The Lucas Oil Dunn-Benson Ford would jump into the lead on the start
beating pole sitter John Gill into turn one. Earl would use various racing
lines on the racy track and battle Matt Miller in the early stages of
the race. Earl held off Miller for the lead as the pair raced side by
side on numerous occasions. With no cautions during the 50-lap event,
Earl would encounter lap traffic as the race wound down. By lap 35 Don
O’Neal had moved into second place and pressured Earl for the remaining
laps for the lead. With just two laps to go O’Neal would use a slide job
pass to get by Earl coming off turn two to take the lead. Earl would
charge back but came up one spot short of the victory. Earl would finish
second and gain valuable points for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt
Series championship moving into the 5th place in the national points
standings.

“We had a real good car, led a lot of laps and finished second. O’Neal
had a little better car than me at the end and got by me with two laps
to go. Were happy to get a second place finish the way our luck has
been lately. The track was in great shape and there was plenty of passing.
It should be a great race to watch on TV when ESPN2 shows it later this
year. I’m looking forward to coming back here for the North-South”,
stated Earl.

Earl and the Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports team will travel to Eldora
Speedway in Rossburg Ohio this week for the Nextel Prelude on Wednesday
June 8th and the Dirt Late Model Dream June 10-11th paying $100,000 to
the winner. The Lucas Oil Dunn-Benson Ford car will be used by the
