Windber, PA (September 5, 2007) Chris Rhodes of Edge Racing Engines and Dirt Late Model driver Dan Stone have to be two of the happiest people in the world after Dan’s triumph over the World of Outlaws Late Model Series (WoO) this past Sunday, September 2nd at Tri-City Speedway in Franklin, PA.
Stone’s win with the WoO could very well be one of the biggest upsets the series has ever seen but WoO point leader Steve Francis showed his appreciation for Dan’s win. “When he come by me I went, ‘Wow, this is impressive!’ I just watched his car, and it was working great. I had nothing for what he had going on,” Francis said after the event. “Congratulations to him and his guys. I know how much and how hard they work. It’s good to see a guy like that win a race. Hey, I’d like to have won,” Francis added. “But I don’t care a bit to run second to Dan. I know he needed it. He works hard and drives hard, and you got to give him credit.”
“We definitely weren’t planning on this outcome,” said a shocked Stone. “I can’t believe we hit it that good with the car. I didn’t think we were ready to win a WoO show. It’s just an honor to win a World of Outlaws race, and it’s real hard. But our car was just so good, and we passed some great cars. And to win my first race legitimately like this means a lot. Everybody didn’t break down. There wasn’t a big crash. We earned it.”
Dan also mentioned his engine builder Chris Rhodes of Edge Racing Engines. “The great thing about working with Chris is not only do the engines have great power but he will work with you to get the engine how you want it not just a cookie cutter engine program,” said the relieved racer. If you want the engine to be softer on the bottom he will make it that way, if you want the engine to be radical and like a on/off switch he can do that too, no questions asked he doesn't try to tell you what you need he makes you feel comfortable.”
In other Edge Racing Engines news Clate Copeman picked up his seventh win of the 2007 season on Friday, August 31st at Dog Hollow Speedway and Doug Glessner was crowned the 2007 Steel Block Late Model Champion at Central City, PA’s Thunder Valley Raceway.
