Exciting Night At Midway Produces New 2010 Class Winners As Stake Tops Modifieds

Lebanon,Mo.-An action packed night of racing at the LebanonMidwaySpeedway saw last lap finishes along with several new class winners as the chase for the Championship in the Central Bank Racing Series starts the homestretch drive.

The Energy Company Modifieds would see current series point leader Michael Stake and young gun JC Morton driving his GM Crate motor bring the field down to the green as Morton quickly went to the top groove as Stake made the middle lane work for him as early season dominator Colt Cheevers fell into third spot.Stake and Morton started pulling awat as the battle for third spot saw Cheevers,Don Luna and Eric Tinderholt battle.With Stake setting a quick smooth pace,Morton decided to try different race lines around the track.On lap 7,caution waved as a chain reaction battle in turn 1 found front running Don Luna going up the track and stopping with a broken tie-rod ending his charge.On the restart,Morton went back upstairs as Cheevers went to the low side and took over the second place spot.Last weeks winner Tyler Brown started his charge from the 11th starting spot as Tinderholt found the low side of the track to his liking.Stake had began to pull away leaving the race for second place as Cheevers,Tinderholt,Morton and Brown raced for the position.With Stake opening the lead up even more all eyes were on the runner-up spots as Tinderholt was trying hard to get around Cheevers.On the final lap,Tinderholt went around in turn 1 as Stake was long gone capturing his second feature win of the season as a tight battle saw Cheevers,Morton,Brown and a fast moving Ryan Edde completing the top 5.

Excitement was the word for the Coldwell Banker StreetStock feature as Pole-Setter Kevin Forshey brought the field to the Green flag with Monk Barker to his outside.Forshey grabbed the opening lead with SpringfieldRaceway point leader Jack Hamer following closely.With side by side action throughout the entire pack,Forshey was holding off repeated charges from Hamer as Billy Waters,point leader Joe Francis,Barker and last weeks winner Rodney Yost along with Brandon Waters were going back and forth.During the long green run,Forshey was swinging the car wide in turn 4 allowing Hamer to close-up the gap while Billy Waters was trying to get second place from Hamer.Caution waved on lap 11 as Andrew Cheever made contact with the frontstretch wall ending his night.On the restart,Forshey who was looking for his first ever win took advantage only to see Hamer close-up in the later laps.As the leaders took the white flag,Hamer made a bold move to attempt to take the lead from Forshey going into turn 1.Forshey got the car alittle high and looped in allowing Hamer to take the lead and grab his first win of 2010 at the Midway as all action followed behind the winner with 5 cars battling with Joe Francis,Monk Baker,Billy Waters and Rodney Yost following.

The Central Bank FactoryStocks would see another new winner this season as Modified standout Colt Cheevers grabbed the opening lead from pole setter and 2008 champion Tim Petty as 2009 champion bob Gustin followed closely as Petty,Tim jones and points runner-up Tyson Troutman battled.Cheevers in his second FactoryStock race at Midway this season kept a smooth line in the middle of the track as Gustin was working different lines.Point leader Ben Solberg worked from 9th starting spot up to the 4th spot by lap 4 as Petty and Solberg ran side by side.Up front Cheevers setting a quick pace would find Solberg moving up to challange him by lap 6 as the duo ran nose to tail as Gustin,Petty,Troutman and Tim Jones swapped spots.On lap 8,Solberg's bid for victory would slow-up as the entire front end of the car had ripped away and sheet metal was flopping.A safety yellow waved as track crews ripped it away and the race restarted with Cheevers finding Gustin on his back bumper.On the final restart,Gustin tried the extreme low groove but Cheevers held off the charge and pulled away for his first FactoryStock win of the season with Gustin,Solberg,Petty and Jones completing the top 5.

The Sportsman feature saw a full moon effect and another new first time winner as Bradley McDowell found himself in the right place at the right time in grabbing his first ever Midway feature win.Micheal Jones and Jeff Scroggins brought the field to the green flag with Jones taking the top spot followed by points runner-up JC Newell,scroggins and Jamie Petty.On lap 2,JC Neell went to the inside of the leader Jones as the duo entered turn 3.Contact was made as Newell went sliding to the infield and out of the action with a broken tie-rod.On lap 3,McDowell who started 5th in the feature made a bold move to grab second place and then took over the lead the following lap.Caution waved on lap 5 for a single car spin and then point leader Ben Newell went to the pits with motor problems.Newell driving Colt Cheevers FactoryStock as his son Little JC was in his car for the evening.On the restart,mcDowell kept to the low groove as Jones went back upstairs as Sam Petty had joined the chase for the lead.While Jones and Petty battled McDowell was taking advantage of this and started to open up his lead.Jones bid for victory ended on lap 12 as he spun sending him to the rear.On the restart,Sam Petty challanged McDowell as Jamie Petty and Little JC Newell battled for third place.Coming out of turn 4 heading for the white flag,Paetty and Newell made contact as the field took the white flag.As everyone crossed the line,Jamie Petty's car stalled on the frontstretch causing the caution to wave.McDowell would withstand a 1 lap shootout with Sam Petty to take the win with Petty,Jones,Clinton Betts and Newell completing the top 5.

The PureStocks again went caution free in their feature event as Matt Young and Elijah Keepper brought the field to the green flag with Keepper grabbing the top spot early as Danny Caffey followed along with Young.Keepper staying on the high-side in his police cruiser.Keeper after a spirited battle with Caffey found current point leader Kory Barker move into contention on lap 3 as the battle was on.After 3 laps of side by side action,Baker took to the bottom lane and moved into the lead as Keepper was battling Caffey for position.Early contender and last weeks winner Robert Doublin went out early with a flat tire as the field set a fast pace.Barker would leave the battle for second place as he crossed the stripe with the win followed by Keepper,Caffey,Young and a fast charging Robert McGinnis.The PureStocks will get to run a 30 lap feature next week while still competing for track points.

The MidWest Modz saw another new winner and first timer as Rich Reynolds grabbed the lead on the opening lap and drove away in capturing his first ever feature win in dominationg fashion after being close for a few weeks.Point leader JC Newell finished second with Earl Muilenburg following.

Action continues Friday Night Aug 27th as the B-Mods compete in a double feature program with $500 going to the overall winner.The PureStocks will run a special 30 lap feature with cautions counting until the last 2 laps and alittle added money.Regular points battles in the Chase for the Championship for FactoryStocks,StreetStocks,Sportsman and MidWest Modz.

Adult Admission for this action packed night for Adults is only $10 while kids 11-15 are $5 and 10 and under Free.

Upcoming events-The Popular Show-Me Racin Series LateModels will compete at the Midway in the make-up of the Larry Phillips Birthday bash-This will be the only scheduled apperance of the LateModel Series this season on Friday Night Sept.3rd on the Labor Day Weekend Holiday along with support classes.Racing continues at midway through the month of Sept and will end with the Coca-Cola Fall Brawl on October 1st and 2nd with a 2 day event.
