(MARION, IL) Summer is here, and the action on the track heats up as the Fastrak Late Models invade Mount Vernon Raceway in Mount Vernon, IL on Saturday, May 28 at 7 p.m. for round three of the Midwest Region Championship Series.
So far, the series has been a huge hit with the fans. “Oh, we definitely show the fans a good time,” said Sean Franklin, Midwest Region Director. “The first two races had two different winners, the championship is tied, and we have given away more t-shirts and cash to our fans than any other series out there. The race at Mount Vernon is going to be a blast for sure.”
Fans are a top priority at every Midwest Region event. Kids especially enjoy Dirt Hound, the series mascot, who ventures into the stands throughout the night to hand out balloons and gifts. For the adults there is the Tennis Ball Toss, where the cars line up on the front straight and crewmembers throw tennis balls loaded with gift certificates and cash into the crowd.
Kevin Poole of Paducah, KY and Joe Morris of Galatia, IL currently share the top spot in the championship with 49 points each. Both will square off against each other and over 15 other Midwest Region racers in the 25-lap feature event to claim sole ownership of the top spot.
Tickets for Saturday night are $10 for adults and teens 13 and over, $5 for children 6-12 and five and under are free. Mount Vernon Raceway is located at Interstate
