Carnesville, GA (Mar-22) After the success seen in the 2009 season opener for the FASTRAK Racing Series at Modoc Speedway in a $10,000 to win National event, no one was certain as to what to expect coming into this passed weekends Late Model Mania at Lavonia Speedway in nearby Lavonia Ga. Of course, the biggest question looming overhead dealt with the economy and what impact would be felt at Lavonia. Absent of the 'national event' label, this past weekend's event would serve as a more real world indicator as to what might be seen on the FASTRAK Southern/Smoky Mtn/Mid East Touring Series in 2009. Lavonia Speedway's Late Model Mania is an annual two day affair. The schedule of events for the weekend would have the FASTRAK Racing Series on track Friday evening for three optional hot lap sessions. Surprisingly, 30 race teams were on hand. Canon Ga's Carey Craft topped the speed charts on Friday with 2008 FASTRAK Grand National Champion Royce Bray 2nd quickest followed by Lavonia Speedway favorite Brandon Haley.
