Feger defending champion in USA World 50 set to run Aug. 22

PADUCAH, Ky. – The countdown is already ticking on Paducah International Raceway’s prime attraction of the season. The Chris Smith Memorial/USA World 50 is Friday, Aug. 22 in a MARS vs. UMP Challenge in super late models. Last season, Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill., roared through the weekend, claiming victories at PIR and Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., to claim the big jackpot.

At Paducah International Raceway, Feger was dominant in the victory. Known as the Highside Hustler, Feger is a regular on the UMP Summer Nationals tour. Bobby Pierce, the teenage sensation from Oakwood, Ill., and another regular on the UMP tour, took second place. Tony Jackson, of Lebanon, Mo., entered the race as the MARS point leader. He damaged his primary car when Jackson spun in front of thefield in his heat race. Jackson pulled out his backup car to eventually finish third. Jason Riggs of Harrisburg, Ill., was fourth with Tim Brown of Benton, Ky., placing fifth.

Don’t miss the door-to-door action as these talented dirt warriors challenge the lightning fast three-eighths mile track and push it to the limit every lap. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. with grandstands open at 5. Hot laps are scheduled for 6:30 and qualifying set for 7. The green flag drops on racing at 7:30.

Pro (Crate) Late Models and Modifieds will also be in action.

The inaugural USA World 50 was held in 1978. Former race winners include Jerry Inman, Tom Helfrich, Larry Moore, Russ Petro, Phil Gregory, NASCAR veteran Jeff Purvis and former UMP NationalChampion Terry English.
