Forecasted weather is killing this sport..

I’ve heard other people talking about it and I can see it happening.. Kenny Wallace actually posted something about this last week or so. I understand promoters have a lot riding on the weather.... The fans have got to stop talking so damn negative about the weather.... I would say majority of the time a track cancels because they don’t believe they will get a crowd.... example today with Belleville.... right now everything should be a go..... not saying a hour from now it won’t be but everyone was looking at the forecast including the promoters and they seen 90% chance of rain for all day today... these weathermen are guessing just like you or I would... they have a future forecast and that’s what they go by... where’s the 90% chance of rain all day we was supposed to have? Another example.... St. Louis is calling for 20% isolated showers on Friday... Tri City is 14 miles from them and they’re calling for 40% chance of isolated rain.... give me a break people don’t buy into these forecast.... it’s all a guess... the rain has been in and out 8 times since Monday when I started looking at Friday’s weather.... it’s freaking ridiculous.... just go to the races and if they cancel because it rained then so be it... stop ruining this sport with BS forecast...

Very well said big swigg

Well said indeed it is the gamble we play if it’s going to rain or nt every weekend just roll the dice and go with it really wish we were going to Belleville tonight

I would not have made the 4 hour drive (one-way) to see the race today with the high percentage of rain that was forecasted. Promotors have to take that into account.

My mindset is different depending on the venue & the level of event. For example, I have gone to Eldora for weekends where the weather forecast looked awful. They have completed the races that weekend every time I have gone. One time they had to run the Dream on Sunday, but it got done. Part of it is I already have tickets bought, hotel, etc. Part of the reason I am willing to lay those costs out is that I know they will run come hell or high water if at all possible. If I am driving 1 1/2 or 2 hours to a 1 off show (like the Summernats) a forecast of rain will most likely keep me home. I will take the chance if the show is local to me (Jacksonville, Lincoln, Macon are all within 45 minutes or so of home).

Forecasts do cause these "fake" cancellations sometimes, but they do also at times save teams lots of $ in travel costs when an early call is made. Lots of times those pan out to be correct.
