anybody ever run a car with wheelbase on left front shorter?car was hit in left front and kinked so left tront is back 3/8 on lf.would it be competitive this way or do i need to clip it or have frame shop pull it.the kink is right about at the dogleg in frame.

I had a 69 chevelle back in 1981 I raced in the AARA bomer class at that time. I got the left fame rail pushed back pretty bad in a wreck after only racing 3 nights and i was really bumbed out. I was told I was done. I was talking to a cousin who was a farmer about my bad luck and he said bring it out to the farm and we'll see what we can do. He got out one of his tractors and chained the rear to a tree and the front to the tractor, unfortunately it did not move. Cuz said do not worry I have another tractor. We then hooked up two tractors and we got it pulled out to 111in. and factory was 112in. so i was 1in short. I did not know what it would do when we got back to the track. I found out the car pretty much turned to the left by itself. It worked out alright unless I got to far out of shape and had to turn right fast it was a little hard but that was without power steering. Power steering would make it easier. On a happy note that first year I raced I finally got a heat and feature win on the last night of the season, on a not so happy note the tree did not make it. RIP tree your sacrifice made a young mans dream com true.

i was wondering how that would work and was not wanting to spend ongodly amounts of money at a frame shop.i could maybe slot the lower control arm mounts to move the lower a little forward .i was not sure if it would be out to lunch .
