FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- The second annual Fredericktown Azalea Racefest is the kick-off event for the annual Fredericktown Azalea Festival this year and will take place this Sunday, May 2nd.
Fredericktown Raceway Promoter Terry Flanagan said he was proud to be a part of the Azalea Festival.
"We are really proud to be a part of the Azalea Festival because we realize how important this event is to the community," Flanagan said. "The Azalea Racefest will give people a chance to come out and see what a quality program we have here at the Fredericktown Raceway and they can do so at a very affordable cost."
Flanagan has dropped ticket prices to only $5 for general admission to the special Sunday evening show with kids ages 10 and under admitted for free.
Part of the Azalea Racefest this season will be the Driver's Seat 25 for the RAMS Mini Stocks.
Driver's Seat publisher Jeff Mills said this is the third season for the Driver's Seat 25, but the first season for it to be held at Fredericktown.
"The first two seasons for the event we actually held it at the SEMO Motor Speedway in Blodgett, Mo. as an enticement for the drivers to make the long trip, but this year we decided we just wanted to make it a part of a special show and we couldn't think of a better time to do it than during the Azalea Festival," Mills said.
Jathon Cruse of Desloge was the winner of the inaugural event before Marty Boyer of Potosi captured the title the second season. The race is also a part of the RAMS Points Series.
Another one of the major events of the night will be a 40-lap Pure Street feature with the winning driving taking home $400. The Southern Missouri Dwarf Car Association will also be on hand for one of their points series events and the Pro 4 Stocks/Hornets will be a part of the show.
