Freight Train Racing at Granite City

Another $32 to watch the Outlaws follow the leader. All races were won by either the pole sitter or the guy on the outside. The onle one passing was Tim Shaffer. They even had to stop for fuel with only 10 laps in,because they propably ran 20 laps under yellow.

And to top it all off if you dare get hungry they charge $3.00 for a hot dog,$3.50 for a hamburger and $5.00 dollars for a 16 ounce beer.

I agree the racing was terrible but all of the outlaw shows I saw this year were the same way--Pevely, Eldora, and Tri City. The only chance to see better racing it seems is at a place like Haubstadt.
Maybe, Mr. Wente will schedule more USAC, MSCS, MARA, or NWWC races next year. The WOO Late Model was his best racing of the year though, and we do appreciate the fact that he does have the big organizations in other than UMP, which the other area tracks haven't brought in recently.

Another thing..the 1/2 mile..isnt used much..and that may have hurt them littletoo. Seemed like turn 4 all the cars were EXTREMELY loose...lol..when they came out down the shute. I was near turn 1..and was watching them fight those cars to go straight..it was a cool site..not for them i bet...wow!! I thought it was a good show..myself..though...lots of changes from 3rd on back. Good show for Landolt..he about made the feature.

Supply and demand. They wouldn't charge $32 if they couldn't get it. If people stop going, the prices will come down. (I haven't been to a WoO race since about 1990 for just this reason) I can assure you that if I was Wente or WoO and I saw folks stretching out in long lines to get tickets, buy beer, etc. I for d--n sure wouldn't lower prices.

You do have to wonder how long it will be until dirt tracks start going to Personal Seat Licenses.

Outlaw racing at Tri City is more like a demonstration of speed...and then, that's it. It is cool to see those cars flying at that speed, but give me a great field at Farmington anyday.

Oh yea, and those concession prices are absolutely ridiculous.

Got to a baseball game..and gripe about concessions..you even get some free dirt to go with it..what more can a true dirt racing lover ask for?? And those 2 cars flipping down the front straight..together..like they were dancing..was spectacular..and horrifying at the same time. Dude flipping about 6 ft in the air..and going over the turn 2 fence..wow...that was amazing too. Shows how crashes happen so fast..so hard. Hope all those drivers are ok today. And have some big wallets.

Thank God I decided at the last minute yesterday to drive to Eldora and watch the UMP CHAMPIONSHIPS instead! It was worth the 385 miles to Eldora and the ticket prices were half of the OUTLAWS!

I almost went to Granite City to see the Outlaws but decided not to because it's a boring track to watch a race. Too flat and too boring. Haven't been here in years and that's exactly why.
