Terry Gallaher finally broke his long dry spell with a convincing Budweiser IMCA Late Model feature win at Quincy Raceways Sunday night. Joining Gallaher in Victory Lane were Vance Wilson (Miller Lite A-Mods), Terry Houston (B-Mods) and Jim Powell (Bombers).

Terry Gallaher has been through one of his toughest seasons of his long career this year. Gallaher has consistently had motor problems, car problems or crashes eliminate him from competition almost every race night this season, but he broke out of that string of bad luck by leading every lap of the Budweiser IMCA Late Model feature event Sunday night. Gallaher jumped out to the lead at the drop of the green flag and was never challenged to take his first feature event win of 2003. Mark Burgtorf worked his way to the second spot after starting in the fifth row but couldn’t mount a challenge to the Hannibal, Mo. Veteran pilot. Burgtorf settled for second with Mike Dyche in third, Mike Karhoff in fourth and Ron Elbe in fifth. Joey Gower and Dustin Neese were the heat race winners with Mike Karhoff grabbing the hardware in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash.

Vance Wilson has made a trip to Quincy Raceways three times this season in Lydell Scott’s A-Modified and the Bowling Green Hotshoe has taken the win each time in the Miller Lite A-Modified feature event. Wilson started the feature event and took over the lead from Jim Roach on the sixth circuit of the 20 lap main event. Henry Delonjay made a charge through the field to take the second spot with Roach settling for third. Michael Long and Brandon Brown rounded out the top 5 spots. Roach and Wilson claimed the wins in the heat races with Ryan Meyer taking the win in the P&S Auto Collision Repair Trophy Dash.

Terry Houston found himself in victory lane after the B-Modified feature event. Houston has shown stead improvement in his second season in the rough and tumble B-Mods and picked up his first ever feature event win. Tony Dunker put the pressure on Houston over the last few laps but Houston stayed the course and pulled out the victory over Dunker in second, Travis Grotz in third, Wyatt Lance in fourth and Rodney Gower in fifth. Grotz, Houston and Dunker all claimed the checkered flag in the heat races.

Jim Powell drove the race of his life in the Bomber feature event. Powell got the lead on the third lap of the 18 lap main event and battled with Eddie Dieker over the last 15 laps. Powell and Dieker exchanged the lead several times with Powell coming out with the lead for good on the fourteenth lap. Powell held off Dieker the rest of the way to take his first feature win this season over Adam Birch in second, Birch slipped by third place finisher Eddie Dieker on the last lap. Brian Kenning and Bruce Hatfield rounded out the top five. Ironically, Hatfield rolled his car off turn four in his heat race and made the feature through the consolation race.

Up next at Quincy Raceways will be the Miller Lite/Mississippi Belle Distributing Night at the Races featuring the Modified Pit Stop Competition. Gates open at 4:30 with Hot Laps at 5:45 and racing action starting at 6:30pm.
