Consistency and Luck Pave Way for Schorr

Madison, IL - David Schorr (Grain Valley, MO) used good reaction times, good luck, and
consistent 4.30 runs to weed his way through the eleven-car field and win the Jeffers Midwest
Pro Mod race at Gateway on Saturday.

Schorr started the day off qualifying his naturally-aspirated, 1700 horsepower, 2004 Ford Escort
in the number 7 spot with a best run of 4.322. That matched him up with series dominator Bill
"The Thrill" Hill (St. Louis, MO) in the first round. Schorr was able to get the win light by
beating the blown, '53 Corvette of Hill off the line and staying out of trouble. Hill ran into
trouble when his blower belt malfunctioned and knocked off a fuel line. The first round lost for
Hill marked the first time this year that Hill didn't advance to the final round of a Jeffers
Midwest Pro Mod Event.

Schorr met up with Aaron Hodges (Granite City, IL) in the second round. Hodges had a very up
and down day. The highlights included qualifying second with a 4.243 and running a 4.194 in
the first round. The lowlights were some inconsistencies, including a burnout mishap that sent
his whole crew running, and continued into his match with Schorr where he wasn't able to make
it downtrack under full power, slowing to a 5.740 to Schorr's 4.335.

Schorr had a single in the semi-final round, which paired Donnie Little (Pleasant Hill, MO) and
#1 qualifier Ron Muenks on the other side of the ladder. Little, who battled clutch problems and
a car that wanted to turn left all day pulled a 4.28 out of his '68 Camaro to beat the 4.60 of
Muenks.

In the final, Little beat Schorr off the line by .03, but once again battled clutch problems and a
car that wanted to go left. Schorr was able to drive around Little, running his first sub 4.30 run
of the day to beat the 4.522 of Little.

The win marked Schorr's first Jeffers Midwest Pro Mod Series victory at Gateway.

The Jeffers Midwest Pro Mod Series will return to Gateway on August 13 to decide who has the
fastest naturally aspirated, blown-injected, nitro-injected, or twin turbo Pro Mod in the Midwest.

Chris Lidy Takes 2

Madison, IL - Chris Lidy (Dietericich, IL) won both Jr. Dragster events this weekend for the 8
and 9 year old division at Gateway International Raceway this weekend. The wins were Lidy's
third and fourth wins of the season and vaulted him into the season points lead. Lidy, whose dad
Chad also runs in Gateway's weekly racing program, came into the weekend third in points, 29
points behind Jacob Blumenstein (Breese, IL), and 28 points in back of Kevin Fisher (Monroe
City, MO). Now Lidy leads Blumenstein and Fisher by 15 and 33 points, respectively. The Jr.
Dragsters will be back in action on August 5 to continue their season

Herbst and Gallina get their first wins at Gateway

Madison, IL - Phillip Herbst (Robertsville, MO) and Kurt Gallina (Barnhardt, MO) both won
their first weekly drag race at Gateway International Raceway this past weekend.

Herbst, who was racing at Gateway for only his second time in his career, won the ultra-
competitive Street E.T. class on Saturday Night. The driver of the '78 Nova had to battle
through 6 rounds of competition, ultimately beating season points leader James Bouckaert
(Arnold, MO) in the final round.

"I hope I shocked everybody, I'm a little shocked myself!" said Herbst.

After losing in the semi-finals to the eventual Friday Night Street Bike Winner Charles Willis
(Florissant, MO), Kurt Gallina won his first race at Gateway on Sunday. Gallina rode his way
through 4 rounds of action to get his first win. The win didn't come easy as Gallina had to ride
past Street Bike season points leader Don Klarer (St. Charles, MO) in the semi-finals and Ray
Devine (St. Louis, MO) in the finals.

"It feels real good to get the first win," said Gallina.

With the win and semi-final appearance this weekend, Gallina moved up to third in the Street
Bike Class behind Klarer and Willis.

beating both Damewood and season points leader Bob Lohr (Staunton, IL) on his way to
the victory. Jason Lynch, who lead the points coming into the weekend, dropped to third
place.

early.

*Breanne Royer (Gillespie, IL) and Alex Schollman (St. Louis, MO) each won 10 and up
Jr. Drag events this weekend. In the 10 and up class Zach Kerr (St. Peters, MO), Tolisa

points.

*Sarah Bryant (Litchfield, IL) and Danielle Boccaleoni (Edwardsville, IL) each won
High School events this weekend. The season points are now up-for-grabs between four
competitors, Bryant, Boccaleoni, Larry King (Troy, IL), and Adam Vallow
(Edwardsville, IL).
