I am building a Hobby Stock(Bomber) to race at Mt. Vernon and I was wondering what ratios people are running. This is my first car so I plan on staying on the conservative side(cannot afford blown motors!) Any help would be appreciated! :D :D :D

Personally rum mods and lm's but I'm almost positive that you'll want something close to a 6.00 or 6.20 on the conservative side, quite a few are up in the 6.50's but should be competitive.

i use a 6.20 usally turn 5800 with 383 but any where from 600 to 633 should be safe hope that helps i run number 18 at mt vernon look us up this year dont mind helping new racers Darrell Beckham#18 hobby stock

Are these ratios for a 1:68 trans? I am planning on getting a manual trans but have not got one yet. I will be running a 358. I know I will not be competitive motor wise but this will be my first year driving so I am just looking for seat time!

Thanks for the help!!! I will need ALL I can get!!! LOL

mabey run a 650 or 683 gear. also a 168 3 speed tranny would be a good trans. run the final gear ratio in the rearend and use the 3rd gear(1 to 1 ratio) in the trans. less stress on the transmission...

i ran 6.90 at godfrey, highland and brownstown and I wish I had that for Mt. Vernon. Instead I ran 6.33 and it wasnt enough gear for me.

Mt.Vernon gear

I ran 6.20's there in a modified and 6.50's there in a sportsman car in the steel block class. I would run 6.50's at least in the bomber

We run a 7.00 at Mt. V. all year with a 360. We would turn about 5900 consistantly and as long as you can EASE on the go pedal it helped the wheel spin, and you still had no restrictor plate effect, like is common at the Vern...
