Bardstown, KY-September 17- John Gill of Mitchell, IN led all 50 laps of the 7th Annual Bluegrass 50 for the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts to become the 17th different winner in 19 series events and the win by Gill also marked the 13th different Late Model feature winner at Bluegrass Speedway in 2005. Other division winners included Bo Wilson of Bloomfield, KY in Sportsman and Bill Wallace of Shepherdsville, KY in Street Stocks.

The O'Reilly A-Main 7th Annual Bluegrass 50 saw the initial start waved off when Lee Devasier looped his mount in turn four. The second start would be a go, with Gill taking the lead, followed by Tim Tungate, Terry English, Audie McWilliams, and Brad Neat. English, McWilliams, and Neat would dance three wide for third on lap 3, with Neat taking fourth from McWilliams on lap 4. Tungate would pressure Gill for the lead on lap 6, but would not be able to make a move, while English and Neat would go at it for third, with Neat taking the position on lap 8. Meanwhile, McWiliams and Bryan Barber would settle into a battle for fifth on lap 10, with McWilliams securing the position again on lap 12. By lap 13, Gill was beginning to put distance between himself and the rest of the pack, while Barber would work around McWilliams for fifth on lap 14. Neat would then pressure Tungate for second as the caution flag would be displayed for a slowed Cody Mahoney in turn two. The Delaware double file restart would see Tungate and Neat go at for second again, with Neat taking the runner-up slot on lap 16. Mike Jewell would start to get racy at this point and would mount a charge on fifth place runner Bryan Barber on lap 18. Neat would show his hand to Gill on lap 19 for the lead, but would be unable to complete a turn two attempted pass, while Jewell continued to battle with Barber for fifth, finally gaining the five slot on lap 22. As the halfway was shown to the field, Gill continued to hold a slim lead on Neat, with Tungate, English, and Jewell third through fifth. Caution would wave again on lap 28 as ninth place running Mike Marlar stopped on the backchute and would be done for the evening. The restart would see Jewell go the fourth position, while McWilliams would also roll back into the top five. Caution would wave again on lap 31 as Devasier would see his mount pointed in the wrong direction in turn two. This Delaware double file restart would see Neat and Tungate mix it up for second, with Tungate taking the spot on lap 32. The pair would continue to battle for the runner-up slot for the next five circuits, allowing race leader Gill to motor away from the pair a bit. Neat would go back to second on lap 41 with a turn three pass of Tungate, while Jewell would close on Tungate as well and look for third on lap 43. Tungate would go back around Neat in turn three as the field completed lap 45. Disaster would strike for Neat as his mount encountered mechanical problems just two laps shy of the finish and would stop on the track in turn two, setting up a two lap shootout to the finish. Gill would again motor away from the Tungate and Jewell, with Gill taking his second Bluegrass 50 win in the Jeff and Eddie Harrod owned Harrod Brothers Farms/Perry's Auto Sales/Central Painting #75 Rocket Chassis, Bullock Race Engines powered mount shod with Hoosier Tires. Jewell would make a last lap pass of Tungate for second, while Terry English and Bryan Barber would complete the top five. Rounding out the top ten were Tyrel Todd, Audie McWilliams, Rick Corbin, 21st starting Whitney McQueary, and Chris Combs. Fifty entries were on hand, with Brad Neat scoring the Racing Optics fast time award with a 15.239 second qualifying lap. Pat Hagan would finish a car length back of Wilson in second, with Kevin Wilson taking third, followed by Jimmy Bryan and Mike Bailey. The remainder of the top ten would be Steve Rector, Sam Huffer, Kevin Long, Roger Cecil, and Jenna Chesser. Eleven entries would see Bo Wilson also set fast time, while Bryan won the dash, with Cecil winning the heat.

The 12 lap Street Stock feature would go caution free and see Bill Wallace score his first career Bluegrass Speedway win in the Bobby Wallace owned Total Truck Parts/Cox's Creek Tire and Brake/Mary Kay Cosmetics #38 Oldsmobile entry. The Robbie Settles entry would be disqualified for not crossing the scales, moving Avral Thompson to second, followed by Daroyl Samples, Casey Bryan, and Shane Litton.
