Administrator
Staff member
Jim McGuire of Auburn, Ill. received an unexpected phone call Monday
afternoon from Gateway International Raceway (GIR). McGuire, a GIR season
ticket holder, was told he had been selected to be an honorary pit
crew member for Kenny Wallace at this year's NASCAR Busch Series race.
Wallace, a native of Arnold, Mo., is piloting the #2 Richard Childress
Racing car during the July 21st event.

McGuire was stunned to hear the news of his selection. "Oh my God! You
just made my year! I'm all a-twitter!"

A fan of Richard Childress Racing, McGuire said he is also a fan of the
Hermanator, voted by the fans as the 2006 NASCAR Busch Series Most
Popular Driver.

"Absolutely!" he said. "Everyone is a Kenny Wallace fan, aren't they?"

During the 250-mile NASCAR Busch Series race at GIR, McGuire will be
put to work, performing such duties as holding the team pit sign, hauling
used tires, and doing his part to make sure Wallace's pit works as
smoothly as possible.

In the event of a Kenny Wallace victory at his home track, McGuire will
also participate in the Victory Lane celebrations. Wallace has seen
success at GIR with four top-ten finishes and a ninth-place finish here
last year. And the #2 car of RCR is no stranger to Victory Lane at this
1.25-mile oval; Kevin Harvick piloted this car to consecutive wins in
2000 and 2001.

This year's NASCAR Busch Series race at GIR is scheduled to start at
7:30 p.m., with parking lots opening at 12:30 p.m. and spectator gates
opening at 1:30 p.m. Fans are invited to watch NASCAR Busch Series
qualifying at 3:35 p.m. and to enjoy a free post-race concert by country
music star Tracy Lawrence.

Great tickets are still available by calling 866-35-SPEED or by
visiting GatewayRaceway.com.
