MADISON, Ill. - The sport of auto racing has always been a family
affair and one that promotes faith. In recognition of that, Gateway
International Raceway is conducting its first-ever "Faster Pastor" race, taking
place Tuesday, Oct. 9 at its dragstrip. "Faster Pastor," described by
GIR Vice President and General Manager Lenny Batycki as a congregation
celebration, will be a dial-in handicapped bracket race on the
facility's eighth-mile dragstrip.

"The church groups have such positive spirit amongst them," Batycki
said. "To have them come and bring that kind of energy to Gateway is
something we're looking forward to having at one of our Tuesday events." He
went on to say that representatives of all faiths are welcome and
invited to participate in the festivities along with their congregations.

Gates open at 5 p.m. for the event and, like the Guns and Hoses
Challenge earlier this month at GIR, ESPN Drag Racing Analyst Bret Kepner will
conduct a 30-minute bracket racing class starting at 5:15 p.m. and the
event starts at 7 p.m. "Faster Pastor" racing participants and members
of their respective churches get in free. The cost for other racers is
$ 15 and adult spectators will be charged $ 10 with children 12 and
under getting in free.

Church members are encouraged to represent their houses of worship with
t-shirts and signs to cheer on their pastor.
