There will be an owners/drivers meeting.
Sunday Nov. 14th at 1:00 pm @
HILLTOP AUCTION and BANQUET CENTER

We will be discussing the classes to be ran for the upcoming 2005 race season.
Street stock, B-mod and Sportsman drivers are urged to attend.

Your attendance is important as we try to make Godfrey Speedway the place to race on friday nights.

Thanks George Carroll

i really believe that it is between the ss and the b-mods. sportsman races are very close and draw a great car count for the most part. i wil be there for sure!!!!!!!

If it's a rules meeting, then Late Models and Mods won't be there since they will be a UMP track. So the rules meeting will be for non UMP classes.

Rudy Pu, I think your wrong, they drew the least of the three. If they cancel B-mods, the largest draw, for not much money, that would be insane. Besides, I already heard it was a done deal. With the uprising of Steel Blocks I believe the days of the "sportsman" are numbered.

rudy pu

you always talk about everything the problem with u is u dont know anything. people dont like you. u cant shut up have a good winter complaining about the weather are something

So the sportsman class is dying--you're right, the class is going to go away, they only had 65 at Pevely for the Sportsman Nationals.

As for the "uprising of the steelblocks", they do OK at Granite and Mt. Vernon, but I can't see any Friday night track running them, given the success of "steelers" running at Belleville. (i.e. Grondzki, Lansford, just to name a few)

I understand that you know everything there is to know, or you think so at least. I guess you didn't notice how many sportsman guys switched at the end of the year, Hartnett, Sponge Bubb, Bryant, etc. not to mention the other 50 guys that are talking about it. You can buy a used LM for less than a good used sportsman. Only upside of a sportsman is all the big money shows they have, even though every set of rules is different. So BP when are you going to quit talking about racing and buy a car? Since your so educated, you should be able to afford it.

In my opinion, I don't think the sportsman are going anywhere. Yes, there are guys moving around to other divisions, but that happens from time to time. I think most do it for a change more than anything. Yes you can buy a used late model roller at an affordable price these days. But, they are still much more exspensive to maintain than a sportsman. Rip the left front off a late model, steel block or not grab your wallet. Heck of a lot more exspensive than a sportsman. Some of these guys may be shocked when that time comes. I just don't think you can run a competitive UMP style late model for the money that you run a sportsman for. Regaurdless of the block.

Is there anything besides the "block" that separates the steel block class from the other late models?

What The Hell Is Up With You So Called Great One. First Of All I Do Not Complain About Very Much At All And I Know Alot About Racing And The Industry.. I Have Been In Racing For 10 Years And Working On Cars From Dirt Latemodels To Asphalt Latemodels And Alot Of Classes Inbetween. I Guess We Will See What Class Is Dropped When The Meeting Is Finished. And I Am Well Liked By Anyone Who Knows Me. If We Meet Then Tell Me Who You Are And What I Have Done To Make You Mad At Me. If You Do Not Know Me Then You Need To Introduce Your Self To Me So I Know Who The Fool Starting Crap Is... This Is Not A Bashing Thread So Don't Make It One!!!

Does this mean George Carroll will be running the track this year? I hope so! Would love to see George back to running Godfrey again. He did a h311 of a job promoting Godfrey in the past years.
