Golden Isles Speedway to Host UMP Open Wheel Modifieds in Conjunction with Super Bowl of Racing II

Brunswick, GA (January 26, 2006) - Golden Isles Speedway will host the Super Bowl of Racing II February 1-4th. The excitement and anticipation is building for this event as racers and race fans continue to notify the speedway of their plans to attend. This four day event is shaping up to be one the biggest speedweeks events in South GA in a long time. UMP Super Late Models will headline the events on Wednesday and Thursday February 1&2nd paying $6,000 to win each night. On Friday February 3rd the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will sanction the event with a $10,000 to win feature event. All indications from early entries indicate a stellar field of top touring drivers and top regional drivers that will be here for this big event. Then on Saturday February 4th the World of Outlaws Late Model Series will sanction the $10,000 to win feature event for super late models.

Golden Isles Speedway will also be running several supporting events as well each night. One of the more exciting support classes that will run all four nights will be the UMP open wheel modifieds. Golden Isles Speedway has posted a strong purse for this class that should draw many open wheel drivers from all over the country as well as local and regional modified drivers. February 1,2 and 3rd the open wheel modifieds will race for $1000 first place prize money with the final night February 4th paying $1,500 to the feature winner in the open wheel modified class. One driver that will be a contender is Tom Moore from Ohio as he picked up a feature win in the modified division on January 2nd at the “Hangover 100”. Moore was very impressed with the facility and the racing surface for his first time ever visiting the track. A strong group of local modified drivers are eager to race against some of the top modified drivers in the country and show off their talents in front of the big crowds expected.

Track owner Frankie Lloyd has been working hard on the facility with numerous improvements for both racers and fans. For those fans that have not been to the facility since the red clay was put down will be surprised to see a much wider and racier track with an open infield with no racecar haulers to obstruct the view. “I’ve spent a lot of money to improve the race track and the facility. We will have new grandstands in turn one and a new concession stand with an eat in area. Were looking forward to putting on a great show for the fans and the racers” stated Frankie Lloyd.Golden Isles Speedway will also offer drivers a practice night on Tuesday January 31st from 5pm to 10pm.
