Despite impending rain, Clarksville Speedway put on a full show. With little trouble getting hot-laps underway, drivers kept rolling into the pits to get a taste of the street stock action even after qualification and heat races were completed. A light field of Open Wheel Modified cars put steady fourteen-second laps on the clock that eventually led up to surprising feature finishes. The conclusion of time trials with Pro Street cars had 'The RC Man' Brian Caudle (RC1) clocking in at 14.531 seconds with defending track champion Larry Hamm (11L) only three tenths of a second behind, running a 14.843 qualifying run. Charles Zimmerman
(93) put his Open Wheel next to Clayton Miller's X15 in the Dash with a 14.339 fast time; while Clayton edged up two tenths, 14.176 put him in the poll. Four Late Model drivers pushed their cars into the twelve-second bracket to get the crowd ready for the fine dirt track racing to come. Ralph Wiles (63) turned a 12.841 that put him in fourth-place. Veteran driver Carnell Parker III (75) pulled in just a hair below Ralph with a 12.766. Tony Albright (1) shaved a couple hundreds off that with a 12.728 leaving Randle Sweeney (33) to set the fast time of the night: 12.637. The up and coming Pure Mini Stock and Pure Street classes brought enough cars to run full heats and feature races. While Pure Minis seemed to take it easy on the clay oval for their heat, feature race time wasn't so plainly ran. Drivers Chris Perrigo (12) and Timothy Hunter (77) round the track for nearly half the feature race side-by-side until Tim let up a bit and Chris took the checkered. In Street Stock heat 1, Clarksville Speedway got to welcome back Randi Hesse (1H) who, at least brought in a third-place finish behind Don Everett (9) and Sam Morgan (D4) who won a place at the feature poll. Heat 2 poised long-time drivers Dale Phillips (87) and Dorris McCord against each other with Dale coming out in first to sit beside Sam Morgan in the feature. Heat 3 puts a couple Doss's against each other Tim in Street Stock 31, and Dale in 57 where they finished fourth and third. Levi Ashby (177) topped out the last heat with Allen Scott (A10) in second place. The big Feature race would see a loss of more than a third of the field due to many mishaps and mechanical failures. Dale Phillips starting in row one would stay there and win the race followed by Allen Scott (A10) who came up from the third row, and Ronnie Hedgepath (H55) up from the fourth row would take third. Open Wheel Dash and Heat races shook the lineups for the feature where Zimmerman and Miller traded place as Miller's X15 took second place in the Dash under Zimmerman's 93. Lucas Lee (12) kept the heat race contenders in at bay to take the checkered with Scott Boley (16) and Gil Smith (7X) close behind. Boley wouldn't do so well in the feature though, spinning twice in turns 3 & 4 while Michael Lee (55) and Miller pressure each other for second and third spots. So way up from the back of the heat race David Flowers (99) overcomes the field for first place, while Miller goes into a turn a little high which lets Lee take second with only two laps to go. While the Late Model Dash kept some of Clarksville's favorite drivers high on the feature lineup such as Richard (15) and Gary Frost (F14), Parker (75) landed the second row by pulling in third from the Dash, and Albright as so often the case, on top. The winner of the Late Model Heat, Bryan Singleton (72), wouldn't have the same luck in the feature. But other local star drivers would.

The Late Model Feature got off to a rough start as Singleton and Benji Putty (21) brought out a caution after only two laps. And as Albright jumps out for his nearly customary lead, a determined Randle Sweeney (33) never lets Carnell Parker out of his sights. The two pull past the Frosts by the halfway flag and threw move after move, lap after lap at each other as they approach lap traffic. Sweeney pulls away from Parker to take second, but just before the last few laps get as rough as the first couple. With three laps to go, Singleton's 72 doesn't hold up.

Gary Frost's F14 needs a tire changed, but at least he gains a few spots back to finish sixth. Wendell Bratton (24) persists from the fourth row to take the fourth place prize. So after two races, Albright keeps his lead in the point's fund. Caudle and Hamm keeps their Pro Street machines humming right through the Dash and Feature to finish in that order, first and second. Just two laps into the feature, Don Young (41) tangles metal with one of the Barber's 54's in lap 2 but keeps his car in the race to take third. Mini Modified finish the racing program typically at Clarksville. But their Feature wasn't as easy to complete as their Heat race. Andy Fleming drove his own car through both races and saw how rough this class of racing really is. While Charles Newberry
(23) brought home both wins, second and further place finishers turn over a number of times to put David Liberatore (4S) behind Newberry crossing the checkered flag. Floyd Clinard Jr., after taking second in the heat, lands in third for the feature.
