Jason Grams said it all in four words: “It was my night.” He went up for seven rounds, and won all of them as he was consistent on the tree recording from a .010 to a .025 all night while his car ran within .04 in each of the seven rounds. This is Grams’ first victory in the ¼ mile race as he was won the 1/8th mile race before. Runner-up Mark Gilliam won his first six rounds, but fell short in the final as his car unexpectedly ran off of the number in the final running a 8.904 on a 8.83 dial. Gilliam’s final appearance moved him up to first place in Gateways Super Pro point standings.

Tony Atchison and his ’98 Spitzer found themselves in the winners circle and winners of Gateway’s 1/8th mile $ 2,000 to win prize. He had to use the famous buy back feature to get past first round, but never looked back after that. Atchison recorded a perfect light in round four, and then in the final he used a .020 package to put away Tim Foley. Foley, out of Florrisant, MO, is no stranger to success. He currently sits 7th in Gateway’s Super Pro ¼ point standings and just got a little too anxious in the final as he went -.010 off the tree.

Dave Scheer took his ’73 Buick Apollo to victory lane as he defeated current points leader John Ratulowski in the final. Even though Ratulowski went red, Scheer was giving him no room as he recorded a .010 light and ran an 11.755 on a 11.74 dial. After struggling all year on getting his car dialed in correctly, he finally got it figured out as his car ran in the mid 11.70s for the majority of the night. Scheer’s victory moves him up to 10th in Gateway’s pro points, while Ratulowski’s runner-up finish keeps him in first place by 43 points.

Ted Lipka is a successful drag racer, but has struggled in the tough competition here at Gateway. Lipka and his ’87 Camaro has not won here in the last four years… until now. He left very little room in the final against Ron Beach Sr. as Lipka had an astounding .001 light and ran a 12.778 on a 12.77 dial (.009 package). This win at Gateway means more to him than his victory’s at other tracks. Beach Sr. has had a very strong start to Gateway’s 2007 Street Points races as he currently sits in first place by 19 points. Lipka’s victory leap frogs him over ten opponents to put him in 9th place.

Bob Pannell, out of Arnold, MO, and his 1978 Kawasaki was “riding dirty” all night. Pannell and his team’s new theme song is Chamillionaire’s recent hit, “Ridin’ Dirty.” He dominated off of the starting line as he held a .128 starting line advantage over runner-up Charles Willis. Willis was having trouble dialing in his bike for the most of the night but proved he is a solid racer as he put current point leader Janie Palm in the trailer during the semi-final round. Pannell’s victory puts him in 2nd place in Gateway’s Street points and he would like to thank Dave Brown for building his engines.

Dusty Katich is already a two-time winner in Gateway’s Street Bike competition as he defeated Janie Palm in the final round Saturday night. Palm was too quick on the tree as she went red by -.023, giving Katich the easy victory. Katich’s victory opened up his points lead over 2nd place Janie Palm to 21 points.
