Graybeal Heads All New Winners at Lebanon Midway

Lebanon,Mo.-Former IMCA SuperNationals Winner Wayne Graybeal finally broke the hard luck streak Fiday Night at the Lebanon Midway Speedway as the veteran took control late in the Modified feature to headline a race card with all new winners this week.

In the Modified feature Gary Hubert jumped to the early lead with Wes Long right behind him.Hubert was using the top groove as Long kept digging down low while the battle for third was tight as Graybeal,Justin Neuman,James Hartman,and Kenny Dickinson were all battling.On lap 7,the yellow waved for gary Rodocker as he spun in turn 2.During the caution runner-up Long pulled into the pits moving Graybeal into second place with Neuman, Hartman, Dickinson,and Jim Pearcey Jr following. On the restart,Graybeal shot to the inside of leader Hubert and the battle was on.Hubert would be faster in turn 2,but Graybeal was running strong down out of turn 4.On lap 13,Dickinson who had started 5th on the grid powered around Hartman and Neuman and closed-up the gap on the lead duo and a tight three car battle was on.Hubert would lead,then Graybeal would take over as Dickinson moved into second on lap 16 only to loose it back to Graybeal.On lap 18,Graybeal pulled alongside of leader Hubert and made the winning pass out of turn 2.Graybeal,who was been fast all season on the Midway,started his night in bad shape as while pulling onto the track for practice,got caught in a small wreck knocking the left front wheel out completely.Following the first time winner to the stripe wer early leader Hubert,Dickinson,James Hartman,and Neuman.

The SuperStock feature would see Jody Saultz jumping to the early lead as JC Newell,Rick Brown and Ben Newell battled for position.With Saultz looking strong,Rick Brown with a new powerplant under his car would close-up the gap on lap 8 and take over the top spot as JC Newell followed closely through.A yellow on lap 12 would set-up a strong finish with Brown holding off repeated challanges from the veteran Newell as they crossed the strip only 3 car lengths difference.Ben Newell,early leader Schaltz, and Kenny Wallander followed.

The FactoryStock feature would see Colt Cheevers jump to the early lead with Dylan Keeper right on his bumper.Keeper in his Chevelle grabbed control as Chevers would suffer a flat tire.Mike Hailman making his first start on the Midway would challange up front and grab the lead on lap 5 as last weeks Factory Special winner Robbie Bryant battled up from row 3.With Hailman in charge,Bryant made a strong move to the inside as Randy Berry had moved into the picture battling up front.Hailman and Bryant ran wheel to wheel for 6 laps strong while Berry was looking for running room down low.On lap 14,Bryant tried the low groove on leader Hailman and they were even going down the backstretch as Hailman pulled ahead going into turn 3 and gathered his forst win of the season followed closely by Bryant,Berry(who smacked the wall at the finishline),early leader Keeper,and Tim Ellis.

The 21 car Bomber feature provided plenty of excitement as 14 old old Tyler Schoen grabbed the early lead with Donnie Jackson and Missy Shaw battling for second place.An early yellow for Robert White and Jason Wescot bunched the field and on the restart,Schoen grabbed the lead as Jackson and Shaw kept there battle for second place.Tight battles behind thses cars for position included a hard charging Scott Atkinson(running his Enduro Car), Matt Haynes,Jerry Goring,Jason Woods,Rich Allen and other as positions were swapped. On lap 5,Jackson had moved into second and closed-up on leader Schoen. Going into turn 1,Jackson tried the underside of Schoen as contact was made between the lead duo.Mike Piercey had charged hard and now put himself into 3rd spot.With Schoen and Jackson making contact,schoen spun in turn 2 and retired for the evening while Jackson was sent to the rear giving Piercey the top spot with Missy Shaw now in second place.On the restart,Piercey pulled away from the field as Shaw was solid in second while Woods,Allen,Jack Hamer,last weeks winner Chad Cromer.Piercey opened up a 5 car length lead as Jackson was now coming fast through the field.As the checkered flew,it was Piercey grabbing his first ever win followed by Shaw,Jackson,Rich Allen(Who rolled his car coming to the line) and Cromer in the top 5.

The Mini-stock feature would see Bryan Deatherage grab the opening lead,but the race was red-flagged quickly as Ike Moore flipped his car going down the backstretch as John Wagner Jr and Bobby Moore were caught-up also_On the restart,Deatherage grabbed the lead with Larry Andrus following closely and veteran Leon Fellers behind them.Around lap 5,Dave Williams who had started 15th on the grid was coming quickly through the field.On lap 7 the yellow waved as Thelma Carter and Mike Harrill got together in turn 4.On the restart, Deatherage staying on top with Andrus close behind,Williams was making some strong moves through the field as were Wagner Jr and Bobby moore recovering from the opening lap incident.Williams would pull into second on lap 10 and set his sights on leader Deatherage.Contender Pat Gordon was up to 4th when his tire started to go flat about the time Williams pulled around Deatherage to grab the top spot.Williams making his first appreance on the Midway was followed closely by early leader Deatherage,Andrus,Leon Fellers, and Wagner Jr who restarted about 18th on the field.80 Race teams checked into the pits Friday night as again special giveaways were presented to the crowd as anothe large turnout were on hand.

This Friday Night will mark the scheduled season-ended on the Lebanon Midway Speedway as the track will host a 100 lap Enduro Special along will added money for the Superstocks paying 750 to win,500 to win the Winged Sprints along with 400 to win the Bomber feature.Providing they have raced 2 shows before hand,MiniStocks will be running for 500 to win.Gates open at 5 with Racing Friday Night at 8PM.
