Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (April 14, 2014) – Fresh on the heels of this past weekend’s successful season opener, action continues at Dodge City Raceway Park this Saturday night with a full slate of championship action including an added-money feature event for the IMCA Stock Cars.

A $750 winner’s share will be up for grabs in Saturday’s IMCA Great Plains Stock Car main event while it’s also championship chase round two for the Stock Cars as well as the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, Thunder Cars and Hornets.

Saturday’s green flag flies at 7:30 p.m.

Currently ranked fifth in IMCA Great Plains Stock Car points, Garden City’s Perry Misner bested the opening night field of Stock Cars on Saturday. Victory lane at DCRP is a familiar place for Misner, as he racked up a handful of wins en route to the 2012 track championship before adding another win in a limited number of starts last year.

Mike Nichols leads the IMCA Great Plains Stock Car ranks into the weekend that includes a Friday night stop at Hugoton before taking to the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval on Saturday. Nichols holds a ten-point lead over Nick Tubbs, a July 2012 Stock Car feature winner at DCRP.

Colorado’s Angel Munoz, who picked off a pair of Stock Cars wins at DCRP last year, enters the weekend ranked third in Great Plains points.

While Misner is out to the early lead track points lead in Stock Cars ahead of Reagan Sellard, Shannon Maughlin, Rich Wadel and Michael Pepper, other early DCRP championship points leaders after opening night include Van Gemmill (IMCA Modifieds), Michael Shenberger (IMCA Sport Modifieds), Cody Davis (Thunder Cars) and Jarett Lunow (Hornets).

After slipping back to fifth in the early going, veteran shoe Gemmill bounced back to take the opening night Modified win ahead of 2012 opening night winner Cody Gearhart and Ryan Heger with defending track champion Austin Allen in seventh.

Shenberger fought off defending IMCA Sport Modified track champion Jeff Kaup for opening night honors, Cody Davis shook off a winless 2013 to take Thunder Car honors with defending champ Dustin Walker in fifth and Jarett Lunow kicked off his Hornet title defense with another triumph on the inner asphalt oval.

Tickets to Saturday’s IMCA Great Plains Stock Car special at Dodge City Raceway Park are just $10 for adults with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $30.

Season passes are also available for all 13 nights of DCRP competition (excluding the World of Outlaws Boothill Showdown in July) for just $140. Contact the track at 620-225-3277 for Season Passes.
