Inside Line Promotions - LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (April 15, 2014) - Sam Hafertepe Jr. posted his third consecutive top five last Saturday at I-30 Speedway.

Hafertepe Jr. charged from 16th to a fifth-place result during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event at the bullring, which keeps him in third place in the championship standings - only 12 points out of the lead.

"We had a really good car," he said. "It showed in the feature. The more and more laps you give a guy with a good car, he's going to take advantage."

The night didn't begin as well as it ended as Hafertepe Jr. drew a high pill, which started him on the outside of the fourth row of his heat race.

"We drew a pretty tough heat race and we drew in the back of a heat race," he said. "We had guys like Sean McClelland, Dustin Morgan, Matt Covington and Tim Crawley, and the track was right around the bottom."

Hafertepe Jr. rallied from eighth to fifth place, which earned him enough points to advance directly into the main event. He started 16th in the 30-lap feature.

"The track got pretty dry in the feature," he said. "Most guys were putting around the bottom. We were able to move around a bit and run the middle for the most part of the race."

Hafertepe Jr. maneuvered through the field to score his fourth top five of the season.

He is scheduled to compete this Friday and Saturday at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, for the $20,000-to-win Texas Outlaw Nationals Presented by American Racing Custom Wheels with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series.
