Belleville, IL – Heavier than predicted and lingering rains have forced officials hand into cancelling Belle-Clair Speedway’s portion of the Southern Illinois Shootout.

“We’ve been watching the forecast all week as we prepare for this event,” commented Kenny Brown. “Originally, the forecast looked to show the rain being brief and moving out the area quickly. Unfortunately, the rain has been heavier than predicted and appears to be staying around much longer than anticipated. We don’t take this cancellation lightly as Friday night was shaping up to be a great one for the fans and drivers.”

Saturday’s Southern Illinois Shootout at Southern Illinois Raceway in Marion, Illinois is still a go. The forecast looks great for Christopher Bell’s return and Chase Briscoe’s initial appearance at the high-banked 1/8th mile with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League. The POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro League will also be running Saturday night as Joe B. Miller looks to get his 33rd career win with the League.
