LAWRENCEBURG, IN (7-7-06) – “The Wild Child” showed everyone once again how he got his nickname as it took a couple of wild moves to get past Joey Saldana and Craig Dollansky to win the City of Lawrenceburg Sprint Nationals. Jac Haudenschild nearly crashed on Lap #1 as he bicycled through turn two, but managed to maintain control and held onto the car. Throughout the 40 lap event, Haudenschild would flirt with disaster several more times, battling both lapped traffic and a rough track.

Joey Saldana lead the first 32 laps, but a hard charging Craig Dollansky heated things up with 7 laps to go as he and Saldana exchanged the lead several times. Haudenschild took the opportunity to close on the leaders and make a bold move to pass them both with 2 laps to go. The crowd was on their feet as he took the lead and went on to win the event.

"It was a good race," said Haudenschild. "In the dash we got a few spots to give us a good starting position. The first few laps of the feature we had to fight our way back. We fought our way back about three times after falling to 10th. The guys had the car set up really well. We were able to get up through there."

Saldana, who got caught up behind lapped traffic allowing Haudenschild to get by him was not pleased with the outcome of the race. "Lapped cars at the end would not give anything to the leaders,” said Saldana, “and you just can't forget what comes around goes around. I know that one day I will be getting lapped, hopefully not soon, but you have to remember that stuff and give the leaders some room. Obviously the lapped cars wanted to race us."

The make up race from last April’s rain out had 36 All Stars and Outlaws going head to head on the ¼ mile bullring. The All Star Circuit of Champions were able to place 9 of the 13 members on hand into the A-main, but attrition would rear its ugly head and saw many of those 9 end the night with broken race cars caused by the rough track.

Chad Blonde was running in the Top 5 when his throttle stuck open causing him to spin on the backstretch and broke the motor in the process. Brock Mayes flipped in turn two trying to avoid cars dodging around Blonde as he spun. Kelly Kinser, Danny Smith, and Rob Chaney all left the race early with mechanical problems as well.

All Stars Dale Blaney and Paul May had Top 10 finishes with Blaney finishing 7th and Paul May finishing 9th. Kevin Huntly almost cracked the Top 10 as he crossed the finish line in 11th place. Neil Shepherd also had a nice run finishing the night 14th.

All Star season points leader Greg Wilson was not able to transfer to the A-main as he finished 6th in the B-main. This allowed Brock Mayes and Chad Blonde to gain a few points on the leader.

The All Stars move on to I-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO with the World of Outlaws for another co-sanctioned event on Saturday July 8th. This will be the 8th co-sanctioned event in the All Stars vs. The Outlaws Showdown Series.
