WELCOME, N.C. -- Kenny Wallace will drive Richard Childress Racing’s (RCR) No. 2 Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the July 21 NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) race at Gateway International Speedway in Madison, Ill.

“I have a dream coming true in going to my hometown of St. Louis and driving for Richard Childress Racing,” said Wallace. “I had two choices during that weekend off from Cup racing -- I could run my St. Louis Cardinals dirt car or I could try to get a ride for Gateway … and I really wanted to run Gateway. I try to treat Gateway like any other race and I usually go there looking for a top-10 finish. Now, if I finish second, I’m going to be bummed out. I just know, though, that if I win I’ll have all of my high school buddies and all my family in victory lane with me.”

The St. Louis native has nine wins, 10 poles, 63 top-five and 156 top-10 finishes in 383 NASCAR Busch Series starts since 1988. Wallace has one other start for RCR, the April 2002 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.

“Kenny’s a good racer and a fun guy who has a strong fan base in the St. Louis area,” said Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. “I think we will have a solid chance to win the race with the team we will have for him.”

Clint Bowyer, the regular driver of RCR’s No. 2 BB&T Chevrolet, is competing in a partial schedule. His next scheduled race is the April 20 Bashas’ Supermarket 200 at Phoenix International Raceway.

Richard Childress Racing (www.rcrracing.com) has earned more than 160 victories and 10 NASCAR championships, including six in the NEXTEL Cup Series with the legendary Dale Earnhardt. It was the first organization to win championships in the NEXTEL Cup Series, Busch Series and Truck Series. Its 2007 NEXTEL Cup Series lineup includes Clint Bowyer (No. 07 Jack Daniel’s), Kevin Harvick (No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil) and Jeff Burton (No. 31 Cingular Wireless). Its Busch Series lineup includes Clint Bowyer (No. 2 BB&T), Harvick and Timothy Peters (No. 21 AutoZone) and Burton and Scott Wimmer (No. 29 Holiday Inn).
