Lebanon,Mo.-As the first part of Amsoil Weekend opened up action at the LebanonMidwaySpeedway,110 race teams checked into the pits and over 80 kids enjoy the Mid-Mo coin scramble with several surprise winners claiming victory.
The SMRS Midgets made there first ever apperance to the Ozarks as the Mountain War heated up action with over 25 Midget teams in attendance.
Chad McDaniels brought the field down for the green flag with Rick Forbes to his outside.McDaniels would jump to the opening lead as most everyone went to the fastest way around on the bottom of the track.Former Hut 100 Champion Mike Hess jumped up stairs and rocketed from 4th to overtake McDaniels in the early going and never looked back while the real battle was for the runner-up spot asRick Forbes,McDaniels, and SMRS point leader Joe Boyles were swapping the spots lap after lap until Forbes finally locked into second followed by McDaniels,Boyles and Mallory Amrstrong at the stripe. The only flip of the night invlovled Al Muncie as we went over 3 times but was able to walk away unhurt.
The modified feature saw a surprise winner and many heavy top shoes in the 24 car field. With Rex Merrit jumping from his outside front row starting spot to grab the early lead with Donnie Fellers in tow along with Eric Hudson. On lap 3,Superstock point leader Tony Jackson Jr.making his first start in a Modified hooked on the bottom and powered around Fellers and Merritt to grab the lead.Merritt tried several laps to make the pass but Jackson was able to shut the door.Point leader Wayne Graybeal who started back in 20th tonight was coming through the field quickly as was young Micheal Maggard who started around mid-pack.Up frony Jackson was trying to pull away as Merritt and Hudson were battling quickly for second as Jamie Ragland and Fellers were swapping spots. After the 25 circuits were completed,Jackson found himself in the winners circle followed closely by Merritt,Hudson,Ragland and Fellers.
The Factorystock feature was a bumper to bumper finish as Todd Cook jumped to the early lead as 1 time winner Mike Hailman was coming quickly followed by Ron Myers and a fast moving Bobby Williams.Last weeks winner and point leader Randy Berry was fighting an ill-handling car trying to move forward. With Cook holding the low line around,Hailman went upstairs several times but Cook held off repeated charges to grab his first ever Midway Victory followed closely by Hailman,Myers,Williams and Bobby Ratterree at the finish.
The SuperStock feature saw point leader Tony Jackson, Jr jump to the early lead and grab yet another win as the battle for second was fast between Donnie Gennings and JC Newell as those two raced clean for position as gennings grabbed the runner-up spot followed by Newell,Mark Davis and Randy Hill.
The Bomber feature was another wild affair as 14 year old Tyler Schoen grabbed the early lead with his father Bill on his bumper as Jr Knutdson was following closely along with point leader Chad Cromer.Around lap 5,Jr Knutdson made a strong move down low and grabbed the top spot as points runner-up Missy Shaw and front running Scott Atkinson made contact sending both to the rear.On the restart,Knutdson was holding strong as Bill Schoen looked outside for a move, but Justin Stoufer was coming quickly up front.Points leader Cromer got tangled up in an incident and he went to the rear nursing an ill-handling car.On lap 12,with Knutdson in front and lapped traffic ahead,Bill Schoen went to outside as Stoufer made it 3 wide and grabbed the lead while Knutdson stayed down low.Stoufer held off a late surge by Knutdson to grab his 4th win of the season followed closely by Knutdson,B.Schoen,Aaron York, and Mike Piercey at the finish.
The Mini-stock feature was a wild event as Bobby Moore jumped out to the early lead and was puuling away from the field as Tony Moore and Bryan Deatherage and Leon Fellers were battling back behind the leader. On lap 7,Moore spun in turn 2 giving up the top spot as Tony Moore grabbed the lead as point leader Dave Williams was starting to make his move to the front after battling traffic. Tony Moore stayed strong out in front as Bryan Deatherage and Chuck Kidwell were battling for position as Williams was coming through the field. In the closing laps,Moore was able to hang on and grab his first win of the season followed by Williams,Deatherage,Kidwell, and Travis Pruitt at the stripe.
