Inside Line Promotions - SIX NATIONS, Ontario, Canada (Oct. 23, 2018) - Alex Hill isn't eagerly anticipating her season finale this weekend at Creek County Speedway with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com.
"This will be my last race of the year so it's kind of sad," said Hill, who has been racing since February. "I enjoy racing. I really missed it last weekend when we got rained out at Devil's Bowl. It will be hard now after this weekend going a long time without being on the track."
While Hill wasn't able to race last weekend it didn't keep her from the track. She flew from Los Angeles and attended the World of Outlaws races in Kansas to cheer for her teammate, Sam Hafertepe Jr.
"It was kind of a last-minute deal," she said. "Sam decided to race with the Outlaws after we were rained out. My friend asked me to fly to Des Moines and then we drove to Kansas City and Dodge City to watch Sam race. It was a fun weekend."
Hill's final race of the year will take place this Friday and Saturday as the oval in Sapulpa, Okla., hosts the John Christner Trucking Fall Fling. She raced there in June when a promising evening turned into disaster.
"I ran second in the heat and started on the pole for the feature," she said. "But then Sam and I kind of got together."
The contact sent Hill's car into a violent series of flips on the front straightaway.
"It definitely didn't end well," she said. "But I'm looking forward to going back since we did pretty well up until the crash.
"We were fast at our last race at Short Track Nationals so it's nice to have some confidence going into this weekend. We're hoping to carry that momentum over to Creek County."
