RE 1970's Tri City Speedway Sportsman cars:

Were these cars allowed racing shocks, weight jacks, and headers?

Was it allowed to remove the trunk floor?

Were fuel cells required?

Were they 2 barrel carb engines? Iron intakes only?

I'm gathering parts & kits to build models.

Hello, do you mean Tri Cities Washington?. If so I can maybe dig up an old rule book.

I mean Tri-City Speedway in Granite City Illinois, a St. Louis area track.

And what happened to the previous replies that were here? Do I have to print out everything now?

My Dad built several cars that ran over there in the late '70's on the 1/4 mile. At the time a Chevelle had to run a 283 engine with a cast iron two barrel intake and a Rochester. They had to run exhaust manifolds and a stock cam. The cars had weight jacks on all four corners. Trunk floors were removed and one year they were allowed to add a "rub rail" down the side of the body. On their car it was a piece of 1 inch box tubing angle cut on each end bolted to the body and attached to the roll cage which was sort of frowned upon but allowed. This kept the body in great condition all year.
