Hoosier Tire rep to be at I-55 this Saturday to work with mods on new A40S tire

I agree rusty. I had the Hoosier rep looking at my new A-S telling me that if I siped the tire on an angle and turned it around on my wheel that it will even out the edges. Which maybe true but never had an issue with last years A.Bottom line he said you have to run an H on RR if it's slick or abrasive. Very frustrating....
I had a lr from I55 that the 2 outer treads were gone, essentially making the tire 2" narrower, and ge told me the same thing! Turn it around, grind it,and dont be concerned about the fact that it is 2" narrower!

So
..why are tracks still going with ump? Most expensive tire...no tech. Promoters must be getting a sweet kickback from ump. Racers getting robbed

It's time to support tracks like Kentucky Lake where the owner has booted UMP, raised weekly payouts (way above our local tracks) and pay $6k to their points champion in the modifieds (other classes have a great payout as well).

That is not true at all.. . There weekly payout for mods is $700 to win and 11th-20 get $75 and 21st on back gets $50.. They do run a once a month special for mods paying a lot more. But weekly they do not. And your pit pass for that once a month special is $50.

Look how often they have $2k-4k races for the mods. They have a bunch of $1k to win for street stocks and the payout for the pure stocks is way higher. Compare that to other tracks where there are a handful of specials for mods that pay $1k. And there is no denying their points payout absolutely destroys all other tracks payout. It's $6k to the mod points champ!

I know I have no chance at that top money but racers need to support the tracks who are stepping up.

If my car is ready in time I will be heading south.

I understand. All I'm saying is to support those that are supporting the racer.

We have some of the best local tracks in the country as well and the ones who are putting effort into reducing costs and promoting the sport are the ones I'm going to support.

I can also tell you that if something doesn't change with the current tire situation there are going to be more cars sitting in the garage than we currently have. I know once my current tires are used up I'm going to have to take a hard look at whether I can afford to race or not if something doesn't change with the tire situation.

Good post Dave in total spent over 1k so far in a40s tire, if they burn up like mentioned on here then that's it, will then take a serious look at pulling further to run on a cheaper better tire, Moberly here we come

Why is it that as soon as I-55 or UMP gets criticism and the "racers" present other options there seems to be certain defenders of them no matter the case. Just curious

I dont think reproducing the a's is the total answer Its just a patch Yes its a better tire but i still seen guys blow off an a in 10 laps Problem is turning the motors hard Spinning the tires too much for what they were made for and a light but fast car I could point the obvious solution but i wont as ill be told its a stupid solution And no its not get rid of ump Ump isnt the problem The tire isnt the total problem And a imca tire is having the same problems ive been reading lately So until its fixed it will continue unfortunately im afraid Sucks

We ran 2 A40, brand new, in the heat race at Fulton tonight and both were feathered a little but looked decent. Bolted 2 new A40S on for the feature and they worked great. Won the main and they still look perfect.

Just have to know how to go about the tire and once you do the A40S is the faster tire that lasts just as long. Honestly I haven't decided if Hoosier did what they did on purpose or they are just stupid, either way I'm convinced they don't have one single tire guy at that place. They have their engineers and their salesman, zero guys who can figure out how to fix a problem in a timely fashion. I tested on a race night last weekend and stayed on the same set of 4 tires the entire time, by the end of the night the problem was solved. Worked on a set for this weekend based off what I learned last weekend and I'm anticipating an extra tenth and a half to two tenths. Zero tire prep involved. UMP sure as he** don't know tires, most if not all promotors and owners don't know tires, most if not 99% of the racers don't know how to address the problem at hand, especially at the track in the heat of the moment. And then DAM*, the company that produced the darn things looks at ya and just shrugs their shoulders(yeah that's you Shannon). I personally reached out to Shannon Rush, left voicemails, I have never received a response from him.
