What started as a warm spring night with hot racing action turned into a light show with thunderstorms canceling one of the A features late on Saturday night. The evening began with 90 cars registering including 41 Mighty Modifieds and 14 Late Models.

23 Street Stocks rolled into action with 3 action packed heats. And in the A feature we had a first time ever winner, Wayne Harper from Warrensburg after starting in the second row he fought off several challenges from Nathan Himes and Wayne Stevens. Moving up from 14th and finishing third was Troy Turley.

The Limited Late Models started 14 cars in the A main with Virgil Jeffery taking the win after holding off Kevin Coyne and a late charge from the middle of the pack driver David Gemes, the CMS points leader. Several spins caused a slight delay pushing Mike McCoy and Darren Rapp to the back of the pack, however McCoy did recover some positions finishing in the 7 spot.

The next and what turned out to be the final feature of the night was another barn burner with the CMS 305 Sprints. Gabe Maycock ended up as the winner of a rain shortened event, but with over 10 laps completed he was officially declared the winner. Randy Roberts showed off his driving skills with several clean passes including a slide into turn 4 that gave him the lead for a short time. The lead was a back and forth show between the Maycock and Roberts, however several laps later Roberts spun out in the same turn and had to go to the back of the pack. The rain started to fall with Matt Chevalier making some noise behind Maycock, but he could not take the lead as the track became slick with the rain falling.

The Mighty Modifieds started with 41 cars with some exciting side by side action in the six heat races. Some three wide action around turn 4 in heat # 4 with Bobby Layne, Alan Deatherage and James McMillin had the crowd wildly cheering on their favorite drivers. Two B mains completed the field of 25 with the double 0 Jim Moody and Moving Dave Meyer found his groove on the top side taking the winners circle. Kyle Westerhold a 17 year old modified driver also made the A main with a second in the B main.

Unfortunately what promised to be a potentially high flying Modified feature with several good grooves on the track, turned into a race cancellation. The A feature race will be delayed until June 4 when two Mighty Modified Features will be included in the weekly show.
