Hudson Grabs Midway Mod Main On Double Points Night

Lebanon,Mo.-The first scheduled double points night at the LebanonMidwaySpeedway produced 100 cars in pit road and an excellent night of racing as 4 new winners were produced.
Starting of the evening were the superStock/Sportsman cars as Jody Saultz brought the field down to the Green with Tim Petty on his outside.Saultz took the early control with JC Newell on his bumper.On lap 4,Ben Newell moved into second and began to apply pressure.Newell who had problems in his heat battled with Saultz and took control on lap 6.With Newell checking out,Tony Jackson Jr began to make his move forward battling with JC Newell for position until he spun on lap 9.On the restart, Newell again pulled ahead until he slowed-up on lap 10 with problems giving Saultz the lead.On lap 12,Saultz was looking for his first win of the season until Jackson began his late race charge.Taking the white flag,Jackson pulled up to Saultz's back bumper and going down the backstretch made contact with the leader as Saultz spun to the infield as Jackson took his second win of the season followed closely by JC Newell,Jason Otto,Petty and Saultz.
The Modified feature saw 18 take the green with Richard Turner and Rustin Miller bringing the field down for the green. Going into turn 3,James Hartman took over the lead with Jamie Ragland following through and Jason Russell following.With Hartman looking strong,second place runner Russell was working the high groove,but slowed on lap 6 eliminating him from contention. On the restart,Hartman found Jamie Ragland challanging,but all eyes were on point leader Eric Hudson and Wayne Graybeal.Graybeal who started 11th and Hudson who started 10th were picking there way to the front battling Tony Fatino,Jeff Miller,Terry Kirk,and Kevin Halderman.Ragland began to overtake leader Hartman and the duo swapped back and forth until lap 13 when Ragland had a right rear tire go down.On the restart,Hudson moved into second as Hartman looked strong.On lap 14,leader Hartman pulled into the infield with problems giving Hudson the lead as Graybeal was battling Fatino for second and made the move on lap 17 and ained on leader Hudson.A couple of quick yellows put Graybeal on Hudson's back bumper as Fatino,Halderman,Kirk,and Robbie Ott battled for third.As the checkered flew,Hudson grabbed his first win of the season followed closely by Graybeal,Halderman,Kirk,and Fatino.
The Winged Sprint Car feature would see rookie driver Dustin Arnall grab the opening lead as co-point leader Eric Todd and Scott Wedelstadt battled for second.Moving through the track,leader Arnall a graduate of the Xtreme Winged Karting Series, and Eric Todd battled for the lead with Eric grabbing the lead on lap 4.With todd checking out,Arnall encountered lapped traffic on lap 8 and spun in turn 2.On the restart,Eric found Joe Todd on his bumper with Clint Todd,Wedelstadt,and John Rowland were battling.On lap 15,Clint moved into second and began to close-up on leader Eric.Coming for the checkered flag,Clint lost powere as Eric grabbed the win followed by Joe Todd,Rowland,Clint Todd and Wedelstadt at the flagstand.
The FactoryStock feature saw Eddie Brown jump from his front row spot to grab the early lead as newcomer Mike Hailman was challanging Brown with Jackson Jr,Randy Berry and Todd Cook battling behind them.With Eddie Brown looking strong,point leader Tim Brown who started 11th moved into the top 5 on lap 3 and began his charge to the front.Jackson,Jr had moved around Hailman on lap 9 and applied pressure to leader Brown.On lap 10,the lead duo ran side-by-side as Jackson took control on lap 11 as Eddie spun in turn 2 with Tim Brown now moving into second.On the restart,Jackson and T.Brown battled for the lead and the lead duo made contact in turn 2 as Hailman was now contending.The contact took Jackson out of contention as Tim Brown held off a late charge from Hailman to remain undefeated.Following Brown ws Hailman,Randy Berry,Craig Mentz, and Travis Hill.
Mini-stoc action has Eric Clay grabbing the lead over early leader Chuck Fers on lap 3 to take the checkered however Clay failed after race inspection giving the rookie Mini-Stock driver Fers the victory on his only second dirt race.John Wagner also failed inspection moving Mike Harrill into the runner-up spot,Leon Fellers,Dave Williams,and Tony Moore followed.
The Bomber Main event started 21 strong as Dusty Rhoades took the opening lead until a crash collecting him on lap 2.Dale rodden then moved into the lead until Mike Piercey grabbed the lead on lap 3 leaving Rodden to battle with Missy Shaw and Wild Bill Schoen to battle for the runner-up spot.With Piercey in control,Rodden held off repeated challanges from Missy Shaw for the runner-up position followed closely by Schoen who restarted early dead last and Chad Cromer in the top 5.Point leader Justin Stouffer was involved in an early incident as his 2 race winning streak came to an end.
Next Friday Night-Kids Bike Races for children 10 and under at intermission.Helmets and pads must be worn with racing at 8PM in the Winged Sprints,Modifieds,SuperStocks,FactoryStocks,bombers and Mini-Stocks while on Sat May 28 the SMTTPA Tractor Pulls will be at the Midway.
